Prolific character actor Atomu Shimojo died on January 29th after suffering from an acute subdural hematoma. He was 78 years old.

Tokusatsu fans will best remember him as Ichiro Tachibana in Kamen Rider Hibiki, the leader of the Takeshi branch that Hibiki and his comrades are assigned to. He also played village leader Tobee in Kamen Rider Hibiki and the Seven War Senki.

RIP, Mr. Shimojo. You will surely be missed.

Such sad news. Atomu Shimojo brought so much depth and presence to his roles, especially as Ichiro Tachibana in Kamen Rider Hibiki. His contributions to tokusatsu will always be remembered.

Oh no, I loved that guy. One of my favorite characters on the show.

A little fun fact I think most of us missed, including myself, was that he was one of the main Japanese dub voices for Eddie Murphy in Japan, most notably Prince Akeem and Axel Foley and multiple other movies starring Eddie Murphy.
