New Kamen no Ninja Akakage Series Directed by Takashi Miike to Air in October

The series will star Taiki Sato, the lead singer of Fantastics from Exile Tribe (Kamen Rider Gavv OP), as Akakage. Yusuke Watanabe (live action Attack on Titan and Gantz) serving as head writer. Takashi Miike is credited as head director.

Fun facts about the source material:
* There was a live action adaptation in 2001 directed by Hiroyuki Nakano who directed Samurai Fiction, the samurai flick which had recording artist veteran Tomoyasu Hotei as the antagonist Kazamatsuri.
* One of the villains in the 90s Giant Robo OVA series named Mask the Red was loosely based off of Akakage. Both were creations of Mitsuteru Yokoyama aka the father of Tetsujin 28/Gigantor.
* Toshiki Inoue was one of the screenwriters for the late 80s anime adaptation, his father, Masaru Igami, was the screenwriter for the 60s toku adaptation.


Anyway, did not expect this. But then again, we got Wingman out of the blue not too long ago. Heck, they should adapt Shinesman at this rate. :lolol
