Favourite Specials/Movies?
With a series as expansive as this, there's a lot of movies to shift through as well. Some canon, some non-canon, and some pretty integral to the plot. What are your favourite specials in the Kamen Rider franchise?
Could list off your least favourite too, if something boils your blood that much. Right now, I'd say my top movie is probably "Kamen Rider Fourze: Everyone, Let's Feel the Universe!" Outside of the action being pretty good, I find that they make great use of the sets. Plot is a little simplistic, but it's pretty consistently written and it's nice that all of the cast members get to shine. Everything goes from 0-100 pretty quickly, and the whole thing is a colourful shebang of wonder. "Heisei Generations: Dr. Pacman vs. Ex-Aid & Ghost with Legend Rider" is also a classic too, I like the roster choice. I haven't seen Ghost, but I have heard mixed reviews about it. Personally, this movie gave me a great introduction to the cast. Speaking of casts, once again, I like how they all get their own thing to do. Moreover, I think it's great that the riders don't necessarily outshine one another in this movie. Plus, I'm a Haruto fan, so if I see Wizard my enjoyment for something shoots through the roof. Though Decade is often cited as a traveler, I tend to look at Wizard much the same post-series because of his nomadic attitude. I have yet to see things like ZO, but I gotta reserve a day to get on that because hoo-boy, it looks right up my alley. |
Kamen Rider Ryuki 13 Riders TV Special comes to mind. Just the fact that they tried to do something interactive with the tech at the time and have all 13 Kamen Riders show up in one episode set in an alternate reality was insane for me at the time.
For those not familiar, this was a one-shot spinoff episode that aired not too long after the summer Ryuki movie was out. The interactive element was that it gave viewers in Japan a chance to decide the ending by calling the phone numbers that were shared at the start for people to vote either: The fight goes on or Stop the fight An ending was decided, and the one that was not picked was later available as part of the bonus feature for the DVD release of the special. A one-volume manga adaptation was out as well, and it was by MEIMU, the man behind the Kikaider 02 manga. |
Well, I already answered a similar question in another thread, so I'll just copy the answer.

13 riders is a bold decision, although the result is rather crumpled. However, with this format and resources, it's unlikely that it could have been done better. I think I mostly like this special. |
