I've watched the first disc (which is the first 7 episodes), but to be honest, I did not enjoy the stories in anime form as much as I did in the manga. Finally, I do think they should have taken advantage of Toriyama's major time jumps with their filler, as they tended to spend just the first few weeks after a manga event in filler and then just made the time jump. I would have loved to have seen Goku's training with Popo spread throughout the entire three years instead of what they did do.

Overall, it was great to finally experience the series in anime form now, but I doubt this is a series I will ever watch from start to finish again. My favorite arc is hands down the Red Ribbon Army saga followed by the 23rd tournament.

Well, I started to watch DBZ and holy crap, I am so glad I bought the Dragon Boxes when they were coming out. The video quality is freaking incredible on them.

Anyway, between the two, I prefer Dragon Ball's story telling, but I think Z had the more memorable villains. DB only had Tao Pai Pai and Piccolo while Z had Vegeta, Freeza, Cell, and Boo. On the other hand, Toriyama got way out of control with the power levels thing to the point where Boo being all powerful feels forced just because he had to be all out powerful to be a match for Goku.

My top favorite heroes are Piccolo, Gohan, and Future Trunks. My favorite villains are Freeza, Cell, and Tao Pai Pai. My favorite DB arc is the Red Ribbon Army saga and my favorite arc in Z is the Cell saga. Funny enough, they both connect back with each other. I will say that I have enjoyed the Boo saga a lot more this time around due to it encompassing elements from both DB and Z, but the arc is still way too damn long in anime form. Most of it is 1 manga chapter per episode, which is really annoying.

I can't wait for the Kai version to finally come out so that can be chopped in half as I read Kai's version is only 48 episodes. Not to mention it will be nice to finally have a legit dub for the Boo saga like we got with the first two arcs.
