Yeah, but we actually saw them die. All we saw with Takatora was him sinking in the water, which honestly looks even less fatal than his plunge off the cliff a couple months ago. There was no explosion and no obvious squishing into paste. No way he's not showing up again.

Well, he was seriously injured and unconcious while sinking down, which are normally criteria that make you drown. Takatora is not a mermaid. Just saying.
