Were J and ZO ever planned to be full shows like Shin was?

I remember reading ZO was plan to be a TV show and nothing didn't go out as plan. I also remember hearing that J was plan to be a sequel to ZO and J was made as a upgrade form for ZO. They are probably Internet fan rumors though.

No, they were part of a series of special effects films headed by Keita Amemiya.

Do you guys think a original American Kamen Rider show can work? A show that is not based around stock footage from Japanese shows and the main rider has a totally new original design that is not based on the Japanese riders.

I think that something that was visually along the lines of The First/The Next and tonally similar to Daredevil or Arrow could totally work as a series on the SciFi Channel. A guy who was turned into a cyborg and uses his powers and martial arts to battle the evil organization that experimented on him? That would totally make for a solid adult action sci-fi series.

I'm unsure, since both of those shows had a bit too much of a "Batman but not" vibe to them (Don't get me wrong, I love Daredevil to bits and I hear Arrow gets a lot more unique during it's second season). While I'm sure Kamen Rider could do a more adult series, I would want to know it would be all it's own, not just Batman in a bug suit rather than a bat suit...

I didn't mean that similar in terms of plot, just the more serious and dark tones. Plot-wise I'd like to see something more like the old Incredible Hulk series, where the hero wanders the Earth and each adventure takes him somewhere new.
