He did many opening and closing themes over the years and even some inserts. He was 74 and had been battling lung cancer.
Thank you for everything! https://tokusatsunetwork.com/2022/12...es-away-at-74/ |

Aw man I really enjoyed this guy’s songs- Stronger and Mazinger Zed are always in my head and heart because of this man’s powerful vocals.
REST IN POWER, we honor you |

Oh man, I was hoping he'd pull through. I'm rewatching Gobusters and I saw his guest appearance in Episode 35-36 a few weeks ago. This sucks. So many good people dead in the last month.

Feels like calling him a legend is selling him short. He was still performing live less than two weeks before he died.
Not only was a fantastic singer in his own right (he was still putting out bangers like "Orb no Inori" when he was in his late 60s), but he was also a co-founder of JAM Project. His impact on the anisong community is massive. I personally always looked forward to his annual guest appearances on the Gaki no Tsukai New Year's special, which is really a testament to just how mainstream Mizuki was. Absolutely amazing artist. One of my favorite vocalists.
Thank you for everything you've done Ichiro Mizuki. His voice will live on forever.

The title of "Emperor of Anime Songs" was no hyperbole and the man was truly a legend for delivering powerful, epic, and memorable music in any genre, most of all Mecha anime and tokusatsu.
RIP Ichiro Mizuki. RIP Aniki. |

RIP dude. The Mazinger Z opening was influential in shaping my love of giant mecha as a kid so this loss hits a bit hard.
But 74 is a pretty good age though.
