Cool. There's some concern that we won't be able to step into the same water twice. But it's still great that Toho is continuing to make Godzilla movies.

I really really hope that this isn't a monster battle film, I want to see what a true Godzilla sequel that focuses on just one monster looks like. The closest we've gotten is Godzilla 1984, which I don't really count because it's more of a reboot continuation than a true sequel to the original, and there's no other examples.

More than likely it’s a monster battle film. I also read somewhere the director always wanted to remake Godzilla vs Hedorah the Smog Monster.

I'll be very happy if these rumors are true. The original Godzilla is my favorite film by Showa, and I'm very interested to see how a modern remake/reimagining will look. And the topic of pollution, unfortunately, hasn't lost its relevance.
