It just boggles the mind that less than a year after a sentai with a 5 female 2 male cast lineup we're getting haughty comments like this.

Reading this thread is like watching the courtroom scene from Mission Hill.

What are you talking about? There has NEVER been a sentai with 5 female and only 2 male. The only show that's ever had more women than men was Akibaranger and that was a 2:1 ratio. How is what I said haughty either? Why can't there be better gender equality, especially in kids shows?

People can read this however they want to but they didn't include a male yellow because they thought kids would mistake it for a woman. And they didn't just make yellow a woman because the implication here is that too many women would equal a weak team. That IS sexism. They're making a connection that female characters are perceived to be weaker than men. So in order to create a more "powerful and strong" sentai they only have one woman.

That's just such ham-fisted logic to use to justify no yellow. The production staff had already commented on there being no yellow previously because of the afformentioned yellow on yellow color problem. Expanding on that reasoning with this whole mistaken gender thing is unnecessary.

Power rangers didn't do it first though, they just stuck with it and it worked. I'd imagine that's the biggest influence, both sides are obviously going watch what the others doing to see if it can work or be improved on.

Maybe, don't know =p That'd be my best guess and I don't think I've read anything on it specifically =]
