You may (or mat not) have heard that Roger Ebert passed today. For those that are to young to remember, Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert reviewed movies for many years once a week giving them a Thumbs Up or Down. And was big piece of my childhood. I remember watching them every week when I was growing up. He'll be missed. But now Roger and Gene are finally reunited to watch and reviews all the movies every created in a golden theater.

Roger Ebert, may he rest in peace.

He was one of the few movie reviewers I respected. Although recently I've grown to disagree with him a lot, I still respected his views because he enunciated them with a degree of dignity. He was also one of the most prolific contributions of my university to the world. May he rest in peace.

I didn't agree with everything he said, but I respected the man and what he contributed to not only the film gene, but other parts of the overall media scene as well. He was also the type of guy that didn't let cancer run his life, even when it took his lower jaw.

They say deaths happen in threes. This week certainly proved this.

Roger Ebert - 1927-2013 Margeret Thatcher - 1925-2013 Annette Funicello - 1942-2013 Annette's death strikes home for me personally. She died from complications due to MS (Multiple Sclorosis), and my mom was diagnosed with that fifteen years or so ago. So I'll be with her alot today. God Speed to you All. |
