i remeber i had the captain gundam figure as a kid, it was cool, a little chibi gundam

but i love all the nods and references the characters make to actual gundams (like Bakunetsumaru is shining gundam and his super mode is god gundam )

I love OO the series. I thought season 1 was great and season 2 was fantastic. But the movie was really unnecessary. Which makes me really sad because I was incredibly pumped for it at the time

Wasn't the actual plot of season 2 about Aeolia's real mission to prepare mankind for its ascension and the "dialogues to come" and wasn't the movie pretty much an example of this .

When mankind faces a species that cannot communicate by normal means? It's admittedly a Trekkie/Dr.Who type scenario which would have been better accepted in other types of Sci-fi but you know....gimme big robots beating on big robots is all the sci-fi people expect from a Gundam movie. I get that, its really how different people accept what is permissible in their favorite genre. What I say probably won't change anyone's minds about the movie but it really sucks that there are most viewers that will dismiss the entire OO saga as a waste of time just because they didn't like the movie because 'hurr ALIENS?!' in their Gundam.

For one thing I think OO finally gave their "psychics" the Innovators an actual purpose other than just these guys who are seemingly gifted with pseudo-Force type powers that gives them an edge in Mobile Suit combat. Which is to say if people can accepted concepts like Newtypes, X-Rounders, Coordinators (though to be honest I really don't remember if those guys were any different from reg humans) and other supposedly evolve humans in Gundam fiction, extraterrestrial life should not be so much of a stretch.

Ah yes, Gundam. My love, my anger, and all of my sorrow lately has been focused on the Gundam merchandise I passed over way back. So much of it costs an arm and a leg now. No, I'm not talking about model kits. I actually hate model kits. Good if you like them, I don't want model kits with a bunch of joints (please don't try convince me otherwise). No, I mean the DVDs and non-model action figures I skipped.


Anyways, I have a soft spot for some of the more out there designs of G and the like, yet my favorites will anyways be the more basic designs like Red Frame, Ez8, and Rising.



Brief thoughts on the fictions:
UC: The best part of UC are the OVAs (08th MS Team being the best Gundam series ever). The main UC shows just don't do much for me (it might be their age, I'm not sure).

Seed: I really liked Seed (though I enjoyed the more lighthearted Astray manga more). Only got about half way through Destiny. Didn't hate it, just never finished it for one reason or another.

00: All I have to say on 00 is I enjoyed the first season and kind of hated season 2. Never cared to watch the movie.

Others: G is awesome if only for how wacky it gets with the designs and quotes. Last series I watched and really enjoyed was X. Couldn't get into AGE. Wing was so much better when I was younger and Gundam was Robotech without the pop idol BS (Don't hurt me, I love Macross, I was just tired of the pop idol stuff in it at the time).
