It was a great episode, but I felt Geki got kinda shafted in the tribute front. Not just because they didn't receive a full blown greater power (although theirs was one of the best non-Gokai machine ones), but because there wasn't a Gekiranger-style transformation or the theme tune playing over the battle.

They got shafted. Rather unfortunate.

So I finally got around to watching the opening episode of Go-Busters and err...I let my standards come down low, as you guys warned me it was very fillery for the first twenty or so episodes but even with that in mind I dunno.
It just felt cheap and tacky, sure that is an inherent part of Toku but I dunno...it was just...so much more so. It felt more like a fanmade series given the general lack of quality in any area. I probably wouldn't have been nearly as harsh either if this was fanmade. I'm not even sure if this is done on purpose as I took the hilariously awful engrish, MMPR (and Power Rangers in general references) and the weird way they put shades on only to walk outside and throw them away as jokes. If this is a joke series I think I have even less interest. And don't get me wrong, the action sequences were really impressive, especially the mech battle which I don't normally care for but...eh...

I watched Gokaiger episode 8 last night, very intrigued to learn more about their backstories I want to know more about Captain Marvelous. Joe's background is really interesting from the glimpse of it. I also loved the Sneak Brothers they were awesome.

Joe's back story really is one of the better ones IMO. As for Marvelous, while I love the character I can't say he's all that great in terms of devepment. He's not awful, but just don't get your hopes up

Watched Sun Vulcan episode 3 and enjoyed it. Black Magma have some really good plans. I enjoy the Rangers and The Chief is amazingly fun and awesome. I enjoy the dogfights in the Mecha.

I actually think all the Gokaiger's backstories were really good, even Doc's was good in how much it suited him. Ahim's was developed in one of my favourite episodes and Luka's is very character-making (if that makes sense). Anyway, up to episode 20 of Jetman and really enjoying it, although sometimes just how dark it is compared to the average Sentai/PR series is pretty surprising, I was really not expecting Radiguet to murder that poor sick girl. I also finished Shinkenger a few days ago and loved every minute of it and adored the Shinkenger/Go-onger and Shinkenger/Goseiger films. Both were awesome, although I particularly loved the Shinkenger/Goseiger one. |
