I used to hate it to. And I think alot of that has to do with how the shows are marketed. Take Powerpuff Girls as an ultimate example. Way more males watched than females, yet all the toys and merch was little girls. Same goes with MLP I think.

Except PPG was originally a adultswim-style Sailor Moon (IIRC) satire from Lauren Faust's husband Craig McCracken.
He called it Whoopass Girls.

MLP always had this stigma against it.
