I think I'm going to start with The Master. Much like the Doctor, whenever the Master reginerates he becomes someone new. New look, new personality, and the Saxon Master was much more flamboyant to help match Tennant's Doctor. As for the "Skelator" look. The Doctor explained that one. When he came to back to life he came back wrong, because Sally threw something into the mix to try and prevent him from returning. He was burning through his lifeforce, burning himself out, and only sucking life from other people kept him going. He became an Energy Syphon.
The Doctor though and his regen into 11th was handled brilliantly. They never really delved into what exactly happens when the Doctor has to regen, it just usually happens. To him, it would be like dying. He stops being him and becomes someone new. His name, his memories. But a different face, different personality, the Doctor as he was dies. So why would he be happy and smiling as he goes out? I think the line "I Don't Want To Go" Worked brilliantly for both the Doctor and Tennant. David said himself he didn't want to go, but he needed to go before it became a Job. Because he never wanted the Doctor to feel like a Job. I also enjoyed how much of a role Wilfred played. Of all the Tenth's allies, it felt like he was the closest to the Doctor. An Old Soldier, Wary of Taking Life, Reaching the End. And I'm glad they left alot to our imaginations. One thing I hate in shows like this is having everything spelled out for me. What fun is that? You get the implied notion that it was the Doctor's Mother from how David reacts to seeing her. And as for Rossilon, that was more an Easter Egg for Whovians who knew what role he played in the early days of the Doctor. And now the end. You have to remember in the movie "The Planet of the Dead" the old woman from the bus said "He Will Knock Four Times, and Then You Will Die". The Doctor, as many of us, took that to mean The Master. With the ever-present drumming haunting him. But having it be Wilf, having the Doctor give his life to save a man he'd be proud to call his father? Meant so much more. I even appreciated him going on a final goodbye tour. And now we're back to your problem with that goodbye tour. We'll start with Jack. The Doctor wanted to see his friends happy one last time before he 'died'. Yes, Jack did something horrible during Children of Earth. But I think that was his way of saying he could be forgiven. Mickey and her being together doesn't bother me either. And I loved seeing him say goodbye (in a roundabout way) to Rose. I loved End of Time, it's by far the best of the Tennant Specials. |

I know what it was, it just didn't fit the character. Nor the revelation that he's the way he is because the Time Lords are dicks.
Like I said, it was pandering to the audience that think Tennant is the be-all, end-all of Doctor Who. Which is still incredibly vocal among casual fans of the show. It was a pointless scene though. That woman didn't serve any purpose, and the look was literally just a look. And Rassilon isn't exactly just an easter egg when he was the main villain of the story. But it was still a massive rip-off of "Wrath of Kahn". I'm not talking about what Jack did. Jack lost the love of his life in Children of Earth and the Doctor's answer was to fix him up for a quick shag with a random bloke he's never met. Martha and Mickey had no onscreen chemistry at all (Hell Martha was engaged to someone else before then) and yet they're suddenly married. Including Rose was just RTD getting his Mary Sue character in one last time. I'm glad you liked it. Unfortunately for me its my least favourite new series Who episode and among my least favourite ever, so I'm a lot more critical of it ![]() I think The Time Lords were Dicks explain alot of Tennants time as the Doctor ![]() It wasn't pandering. Tennant was an amazing Doctor. His tenor helped solidify the series back into the modern era, moreso than Eccleson. Alot of the new Whovians only know Tennant, so him leaving was a very big deal. They were basically taking a leap of faith they'd like the new guy. And she did serve a purpose. She helped guide Wilf where he needed to be, helped him get the revolver into the Doctor's hand right when he needed it most. Without her who knows what might've happened. I just don't see that Khan thing. I get what you mean, I just don't see it. And that's Jack, though. That's his personality. Look how he handled much of his personal problems in Torchwood. It was usually by bending Ianto over peices of equitment. Then sex seemed to be how the lot of them handled problems ![]() |

I hated Amy and Rory...and River Song, seriously the show is called DOCTOR WHO so don't push him into the background for your extremely forced dues machina companions.
What happened to just normal men and women going on adventures with this crazy old man in a blue box? Now every companion has to be one of the X-Men and also has to dribble over his dick for the entire series.

I agree, but sadly its something that's prevalent with the modern version of the series and isn't going to go away soon
![]() If they won't do a proper alien companion again the least they could do is one that isn't from goddamn modern day Earth.

I liked Amy in season 5 but by the end of her run she was grating. I like that they have more to do in the current series than historically. A lot of times in classic Dr Who the companions were about as useful as Shunpei in Wizard.

True but they were meant to be normal people and act almost as our vessels to go travel with the Doctor. Then Moffat skipped out active participation and went straight to making them all these ludicrously over important people and it's a problem when they become more important than your main character.
