Eh, in general, I thought it was pretty entertaining. Not among the best, but justbthis goofy fun thing.
It's Power Rangers. It's all cheap. I honestly don't remember the acting, but I thougt it had a lot of cool things going for it. I mean, it was on a space colony! The main villain had a really reasonable motivation to obsessively hate the Rangers. And the Magna Defender just being a vengeance driven nutcase because a villain kolled his son was always cool to me. I dunno, I just thought it was pretty ambitous, even if the plot istself was disjointed. Which it was. From what I remember....I felt the same way about Ninja Storm the way I do about MMPR3. They both have a lot of the same sorta feel right down to.the ninja motif. But like I said, I gotta watch it again. Mystic Force...I don't remember liking at all. But the later the PRs season the less cheap it looked (for the most part). I think Lost Galaxy would have worked better in a later season, the whole story felt too epic for their budget and technology at that time. It did really annoy me that Ninja Storm basically had no conflict or tension but the action sequences were great and I liked the characters. I think they're the best representation of teenagers that Power Rangers has managed. And yeah a lot of people dislike Mystic Force.

You see my problem is, I don't like 'goofy', you can appeal to kids without the need for slapstick and fart jokes. That is part of the reason I couldn't get into the latest Super Sentai iteration despite everyone in the world bumming it.

I don't like fart jokes myself, but I honestly don't think Power rangers has any. But slapstick? Over the top acting ? That I can definitely get into. Not all seasons need to take themselves super seriously. I can dig something like a plot that looks like it came from a silver age comic.
As for Lost Galaxy...eh, I dunno. It's not like they knew thwy would have a bigfer budget in the later seasons They may have even smaller budgets now, but we can do more with tech now and for cheaper.

With all that you're saying, I'm beginning to wonder how you made it through Ninja Storm. One of my most vivid memories from that season involve the camera zooming in on Lothor's face utilizing the most obnoxious angles possible. You must like it a lot to suffer through that... |

Speaking of PR, I recently started rewatching SPD, because I liked SPD.

I dont particularly qualify hamminess and slapstick as juvenile, but that's me.

Having just survived that myself, you should be ashamed.

Ninja Storm wasn't a great season but it had likeable characters, solid writing, good acting and the Thunder Rangers. I would have enjoyed it a lot more if it took itself seriously but as far as a comedy series goes, it felt like it had actual effort put into it, which is rare for comedy series.

The other comedy series had bad acting, awful characters, crap writing and absolutely nothing memorable other than how bad they were. Ninja Storm is by no means one for the history books but I find the all out comedy seasons always the lowest type of Power Rangers seasons and Ninja Storm is just the best of the bottom of the barrel.

SPD was awesome. I loved that show, one of the series I actually weathered against Disney's/Jetix's eclectic time slots just to continue watching it.
