And that's not even mentioning sets like "The Bat." There's seriously no excuse for such a poorly made sets. Megabloks has inarguably been improving nearly constantly with it's Halo line as well as it's lesser known lines, (hell, compare the current Warthog to the original and it's like they're two differnet toylines) while Lego has not. And that's not opinion, that's looking at the sets and seeing the cold hard facts of less parts, flimsier and less accurate builds and less colour cohesion. |

No. Sorry, but no. While yes the rest is up to opinion, you cannot seriously say the new Batmobile is better than the old. It looks lazily designed, has less parts, is smaller, and the set overall is just a watered-down version of the original hiding behind the excuse of being more "cartoony." There's nothing the new set does better than the old. It's not even as fun because it lacks the awesome rubber-thing launcher of the original.
Either way that still leaves all the other sets which are either on equal standing or better then the old, with some exceptions being the Catwoman set, while the brand new sets are great, such as the Lex Luthor and Funhouse. Either way, I think saying the LEGO DC sets have regressed compared to the LEGO Batman sets is incorrect. I much prefer the LEGO DC sets. Quote:

And this is getting way off-topic, so I think I'll leave it at that. Last edited by Starscream Gaga; 07-05-2013 at 07:23 PM.. |

As someone in a previous thread already stated, it's because MMPR was the first in America and because it's the 20th anniversary is the reason why MMPR has been getting so much fanfare lately.

especially considering it's working with a lower piece count then the first.

And my point wasn't even regression, That's just worst case, but the STAGNATION and the stubborn, outdated mentality that refuses to recognise that times have changed. Lego has not improved their builds or sets in a long, long time. Like I siad, compare Halo warthogs and the improvement is staggering. Compare Lego Batmobiles and it's depressing. Same goes for a lot of their sets. They still haven't made a Star Wars walker that doesn't look weird. And like I said, they still pull the cheap trick now and then with larger builds being technic frames with plates hanging off them. Again, to put it in comparrison, theturbo tank was a $100+ item when it came out. it was hollow, ugly on the inside and just all around nothing spectacular. Then take the Halo Phantom, a set that's not even recent, and it's basically a brick with the only hollow parts being the cockpit and the troop bay... which is still bricks on top of bricks for that bullet-proof feel. And the Phantom was only $90. Hell, take the last Lego set I ever bought, the Bounty Hunter Dropship. That thing is flimsy and wobbly and does an okay job of looking like the source material. I mostly got it for the Embo figure... which doesn't even have unique armour and looks really cheap because of it. It was $70, but for $30 less I got the Halo Falcon, a set that's not only larger, but way the hell more solid. It again, is plates on top of plates for a super strong feel. The Halo (that's the Dropship's name. Kind of funny in this context) is mostly empty space, designed for minifigure occupation... but fails completely because no minifigure is capable of sitting in the lower section because there's not enough height. Meaning that area's just empty space for no reason. Space that could've been used for adding structural stability. Add to that the doors being held on by a paltry four studs and the things on the thrusters always getting knocked out of alighnment and it feels like a haphazard MOC then an official set. It's like Lego is trying to make their sets more toy-like and less model... but they fail as toys as well because they're not strong enough for play and the minfigs are archaic and boring. Meanwhile Halo Megabloks nails that medium with it's minifigs and sets like cement blocks. Last edited by SPLIT LIP; 07-05-2013 at 08:14 PM.. |

Awesome, definitely buying that when it comes out.
Ditto. It'd really make the whole set feel complete, but I'm fine with what we have right here. Neither did the Green Ranger, and yet he comes with one. Odd. |

Lovely looking set!
Any chance the helmets have sculpted detail and not just paint apps?

I've been kinda leary of Mega Bloks ever since I bought the original Samurai Megazord and every joint cracked in half after two months of display. It'd be pretty hard to mess up mini figs though, and these look pretty cool.

I thought he had both the Dragon Dagger and the Blade Blaster. My bad.
