Welcome! The video quality is great and the subs are okay, there are some typos now and then but nothing that gets in the way of understanding, unless you aren't paying attention.
Plus it's clearer than TVN who barely even translate half the Japanese, assuming somehow that that makes for a better translation.

OT usually have both better subs and better video quality, it's just a shame, like you said, that they have such a limited range. For older series I find Grown Ups In Spandex a great group. Their Jetman releases were stellar.

If you watch the older shows, you can see how important the Ultra Vehicles are. They are typically used to engage the monster until the last few minutes when the Ultra Hero comes out. Plus they are generally quite neat looking and make for good toys!

A few days later than everyone else because real life got in the way but I'm all caught up now
![]() Some thoughts while I was watching - Episode 1: - Love that opening theme - Well the Space Beasts certainly look….awkward. Like something Frued would enjoy. - Point Q…intentional or coincidence? Does the Ultra franchise have a thing for using Q wherever they can. - I love the toku shows that actually have a security force doing something - Nexus: Not afraid to punch something considerably smaller than him ![]() - Seriously, that was a great entrance Episode 2: - Obligatory training montage! - Those guns look like fun toys - Man the Space Beasts look even more awkward here ![]() - And now it’s giant. This keeps getting worse and worse haha - It has a pretty awesome roar though. I’m a huge sucker for daikaiju roars. - And Nexus has arrived! Such a simple but effective transformation sequence. Episode 3: - This is a dark episode (as in lighting). Doesn’t help I’m watching it on a TV with the sunlight glaring in either. - I am in love with this fight sequence. I’ve always been in awe of Ultraman’s miniature work, and this is no exception. - ![]() - So in reality, those fancy looking guns are completely useless against the monsters? What a surprise. - Jun is a such a subtle badass All in all an excellent first 3 episodes, looking forward to more!

Plus it's clearer than TVN who barely even translate half the Japanese, assuming somehow that that makes for a better translation. Honorifics left in, but I didn't see untranslated words. The video quality though leaves a bit to be desired though. This has been a statement based on personal viewing experience of TVN episodes 1-3 and is in no way meant to start the archaic process of fansub preference debate. I now return you to your regular scheduled LWW topic. Last edited by MidoGreen; 07-07-2013 at 07:38 AM.. |

Watched episodes 1 and 2 at the weekend:
Episode 1 This is kind of a mess, but it sorts itself out by the end That it one freaking awesome theme song! Ultraman Nexus: Breaking Zordon's golden rule Episode 2 What is the point of the orange pods that surround the ships? Do they just stay there forever? Hey Prism Ace- I mean Ultraman, where have you been? |

You replied to me the same day I made that post.
![]() I haven't actually rewatched this week's quota of episodes yet (for shame!) but I am actually surprised at the range of responses and even complaints you guys had. Definitely not the ones I was expecting, especially the lack of commentary on Komon himself. And for those of you who complained about Pedoleon... ![]()
