She's pretty damn good for what you get with her. A massive cape and 3 penguins. The figure itself can be a little difficult to pose at times but I'd still recommend her.

So I finally have my Figma Tekkaman Blade and my Figma Princess of the Crystal in my hands and I have to say...I'm fairly unimpressed.
Detail, paint, articulation, accessories are all fine but I can see why they both come with stands, because neither is weighted properly so it physically can't stand under its own weight, unless you spend ages fiddling and getting them in a ridiculous stance. Still though I think the worst thing about them is the size, Princess has a reason for being so skinny, but she near towers over Tekkaman whose slender form from the show is taken to such ridiculous extremes. He actually looks pretty stupid on my shelf in general, being the most armoured out of everyone and being a good head shorter than everyone and a good shoulder width smaller to boot.

Princess of the Crystal stands fine without the stand providing you're using the tailcoat to weigh it down at the back. If you take it off well...considering her high heels I'm impressed she's able to stand at all without help.

Yeah but leaning against the cloak dress thingy doesn't really count as standing under her own weight.

You expected her to be able to stand up with the cloak not dragging on the ground? Given the nature of her design you were expecting way too much of the figma then.

Yeah I did, it isn't like her feet are on needle points. And once again I find this mindset so ridiculous 'you expect too much of your toy if you expect it to stay up without leaning on something', what a load of bollocks.

Except it is ridiculous to expect a spindly plastic doll with tiny feet to be able to hold up a huge plastic cloak in mid-air without any form of support. The width of the blowing cloak is about 4 times the width of the actual figure. It's a case of either accepting the reality of that pose being completely impossible to achieve without assistance or sacrificing that element of design altogether.
This isn't like Figuarts where Bandai expect you to buy a stand separately - every Figma comes with a stand because Max Factory acknowledge the fact that sometimes their figures are going to need it. Look at all the Princess of the Crystal statues out there, they can't maintain the blowing pose without additional support either.

I decided to pick up the EVA girls starting with Rei. Her figure was everything I expected of a figma release, even if she ended up far more expressive than she needs to be. Looking forward to tracking down her fellow pilots. Now all we need is for them to announce Shinji....
