No, the story was great. It just needs a better story teller.
My friend and I had a long talk a while back after the third movie wrapped and he helped me piece it together in a way that made sense. I wish he blogged it or something, because it was beautiful. But yes, still a popcorn flick no doubt. Sometimes a canvas just needs a better artist though. |

Judging by this post, you haven't read much, if any of this thread at all, have you?
Tell me, how can someone have a passion for something they know very little about? How can Power Rangers be adapted in a "different way" then what's been done before if the history of it is unknown? Unlike Dom, Michael Bay actually took the time to get to know the Transformers mythos. He met with Hasbro reps extensively and then put a spin on the story. While I am a fan of the Bayverse movies, the story is great, the acting and other stuff isn't the best. But, it's campy, which is what Transformers has sorta always been, and it's what Power Rangers is always been. Why remove the camp? Do they wish they could go back and do things differently? I think so, and if it were to be done over again, they probably would have waited to go to the fans and message boards before they hashed everything out in terms of what they wanted to do with the project. Things were said, feelings got hurt, people lashed out - it happens in almost every aspect of life. They've moved on from that, and I hope my interactions with you guys might help in the moving on from all that as well. I talk to Dom and the team all the time - they are PR fans, more so of the original MMPR series - do they love everything that happened in the seasons after that, no, but there are a lot of things they do like and are fans of and that's why they wanted to go back to the original, and then pull things they do feel work from other seasons, and adapt a new story out of it all. They have watched a ton of PR episodes while working on this thing and even have consultants to the writers that do know the history of everything and are helping develop the story out of that. And we aren't totally removing the camp from it all either. |

I have read this whole thread actually - and like I said, I can't change anything that's happened or been said in the past - and can only offer up myself and my involvement in the project at it's current state and talk about Dom and our team and how we are feeling and what we are up to now.

Sure, there are people that think the idea itself of this project is unsound and will not work - and they've expressed their opinions as such - but I reiterate that a lot of the negative reaction is because of how your boss handled himself to the very fans that he reached out to for emotional and, more importantly, financial support. That being said - you've mentioned you fly out to NYC for shooting. I assume it's for your character's origin video/trailer/whatever? For the thousands of viewers that visit and do not post or have yet to register, can you tell them (as well as the rest of us) a little about your character and what they can expect? Thank you!

Don - thank you for coming on board here and speaking on behalf of the production crew. I can understand that there could be hesitation due to a perceived negative reaction from a lot of fans in general, but also here on our website with our members. However, I hope you understand too that the reason there is a negative reaction is *BECAUSE* of how Dom handled himself on other forums and to other individuals. That's the only perception that a lot of people have right now - and that information spreads out quickly on all the community sites (Tokunation, RangerCrew, RangerBoard, HJU, Funaro, etc.)
Sure, there are people that think the idea itself of this project is unsound and will not work - and they've expressed their opinions as such - but I reiterate that a lot of the negative reaction is because of how your boss handled himself to the very fans that he reached out to for emotional and, more importantly, financial support. For the thousands of viewers that visit and do not post or have yet to register, can you tell them (as well as the rest of us) a little about your character and what they can expect? Thank you! So obviously this thing has been in the works for awhile, and as the team was originally hashing this whole idea out, maybe it was too soon to go onto message boards with it, because so much of it was still up in the air, ideas where being thought of and tried out, concepts perused, style & tone was being played around with, they were really working hard to nail down exactly what they wanted to do and how to go about it. Well, they've done that now, and my stuff begins shooting in a week. The goal now is to have a 30 minute piece, released on the web, either as a whole, or broken up into individual character pieces in the edit room. It will introduce the new world, Lord Zedd's return, the new Rangers (or more rather the characters who become the Rangers), other new evils and all the while introducing the tone & style (new suits, morphing sequences, fight scenes, etc) of what we hope will be something that we could continue making in the future (web series, or feature film) once we get this first piece done. I don't want to talk too much about the story, but it is set 20 years after the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. The Rangers have defeated evil, retired, and have become somewhat of celebrity heroes of a safe world. That is until Lord Zedd returns, and a new team of Rangers must band together to fight evil, as well as deal with a mysterious militant and his group of soldiers, The Silver Guardians. As well as that, there are things that are being pulled from other seasons and sprinkled in along the way that fit in terms of this world and the story we are telling. It will feel more like a superhero-type origin story, where it will be more character driven and about the people who become the Rangers and setting everything up, but then obviously with awesome fight scenes and special effects. Dina's part just wrapped shooting last week (Blue Ranger) - she is a total rock star by the way, and her going toe to toe with some of the stunt team from TMNT, & a former WWE wrestler will definitely be a sight to see! PG-13 with all content and any violence or anything else will be handled in that manner. As for me, I play Detective Christian Tate (and without given anything away, my last name is NOT a coincidence) of the Angel Grove PD - at one of the few remaining police precincts that is still open as the Silver Guardians are shutting them down one by one (for what reason? We shall see...) - I don't like what they are up to and want nothing more to have a safe city for my family (I'm married) and others to live in. The character that becomes the Black Ranger is an underground MMA-style fighter (Ricky, the actor playing him, is a bad*** marital artist himself - definitely not someone I would ever mess with) - and the Pink & Yellow Rangers are twins and hipster-type urban protesters. The character of Tommy also factors into all this, but at the moment due to many things, that will be something that will have to come later. This piece is what we hope will just be the beginning of something new and fresh for the PR world and given it's target audience being a little older and more mature, the thematic elements and such will be a little - I hate to say darker & grittier because those two words get used a lot these days - more mature let's say. And a lot of that will come from the Rangers themselves being adults now, and having to deal with mature problems & stress in their professional and family lives, but while balancing being an evil-fighting PR. And as has been talked about on other sites, and our Facebook & twitter pages, we don't have the rights for any of this, everything we are using we are creating ourselves and we have nothing officially to due with Saban. We are not making a dime off any of this and are literally putting all the money from the crowd-funding (and even more out of the producer's own pockets) into making this the most awesome thing we can. And if there is life for us to do it more afterward, great, and if not, at least we took a risk and busted our tails to make it happen. There's no way to tell how this could go down in the future, that is literally out of our hands, we can't be concerned with that because we have not control over it - all we can control is the now, and what we are doing, and until we are unable to do so, we are gonna keep truckin'. Regardless of anything that has went down in the past, I've known Dom personally for years - he is a fantastic director and DP who is really giving everything he's got for this - his producing partner Louis is awesome too and they've put together a really awesome team to pull all this off. Everyone on this project is a working professional with major TV series & film credits. And some former PR people are already on board (Ron Wasserman, Robert Axlerod & David Fielding), as well as some PR historian-type people who are involved with the writers for story development - and the hope is to have some more as we continue on (hopefully). It is a SAG/AFTRA shoot, and is classified as a fan film (and yes, Dom & Louis are fans of PR, that is something that has come into question at times, so let me just say that as well) in terms of it being a film that is being made, dealing with someone else's copy-written material, but for no monetary gain and to be released only to the web. The hope is to have something to put out by year's end - probably sometime in December. It will be released on YouTube. There may even be a Teaser from the Blue Ranger piece to show at the upcoming New York Comic Con. I will be posting stuff during my time in NYC next week (as well as at New York Comic Con on Saturday October 12th - we will all be there) on my professional facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/TheRealDonMoney - as well as on my Twitter page @DonMoney79 - MMPR's facebook page & twitter are also good resources for updates, pics, etc I hope this sort of lays the foundation out a bit for you guys. I'm working hard on my script and stuff this week, but if you guys have any other questions, please feel free to ask - and also as a small disclaimer - I am just an actor on this thing, though I do know Dom really well and talk to him a lot, I may not know everything that is going on, or I may answer some things incorrectly (albeit unintentionally), but I will do the best I can for you guys. Whew...that's a lot, sorry if it is too long of a post or whatever - I am still getting used to the forum thing. Last edited by RedRangerDonMoney; 10-02-2013 at 02:33 AM.. |

Well Don, you certainly seem like a level headed fellow, but wouldn't it be better if, and no offense to you here, but if Dom came here to put out the fires himself? While I appreciate what you're trying to do, is it your job to do damage control for him?
That being said, your story sounds interesting, but I'm still on the fence about it, mostly due to the way this was initially handled. I realize you want to "reboot" this, but first impressions tend to stay with people and I think having Dom come in and eat some humble pie might help the situation a bit more. |

I realize you want to "reboot" this, but first impressions tend to stay with people and I think having Dom come in and eat some humble pie might help the situation a bit more. To be honest, this whole thing seems to have blown up way out of proportion - I mean, it's not like we are trying to replace the original PR, we just want to introduce a new world for which the Rangers could exist in, and give everyone yet another place to what something they like, and also maybe gain some new fans along the way. Things were said and feelings were hurt, on both sides - you could say that apologies need to come from all parties - and if not from all parties, then we could also just agree to move on then maybe? And this little thing we are trying to do, is it really worth getting bent out of shape for and even talking about apologies of any kind? And I'm doing this on my own because I care about the project and I care about Dom - knowing someone in the "virtual" world is not like knowing someone in person, like I know Dom & Louis. I think this could be really great and I'd like to fans to have something new and fresh and something else to enjoy that is being handled in a more mature fashion. Would Dom coming on here make things better? I think it might for some (others I feel like would just pile on even more), but you also have to remember, there are still people on the web who are literally slamming him almost daily, and with information that is not true (and they saying he should apologize), that kind of behavior doesn't make someone want to come back around ya know? And regardless of the reasons, he said things yes, but there were also things said to him that would warrant apologies - just on a human level - and I don't see anyone offering that up. And to be totally honest, there's a reason you don't see producers or directors of projects out there on the message boards, it's not really a place for them I don't think because it can get out of hand so quickly as people are very passionate and protective of their likes and opinions. And he and Louis are crazy busy right now with production, all of their time and positive effort needs to go toward that - once everything gets shot, will they do some interviews and get back into the forums over time, I think so, but just not right now. |

The characters do sound good. Your characters last name makes me think of a certain Former blue then red now commander. But I am still a little iffy myself on the way this is going to turn out. Dont get me wrong, I get iffy on most anything until I SEE something from it. But like MnemonicSyntax said, it would be a little better if the creator himself cane through. You do seem like a good dude, not going crazy on everybody who disagrees with it.

So I get the morning paper today and what do I see?
MMPR: http://www.valleybreeze.com/2013-10-...r#.Uk37i429K0c I didn't even know this thing existed until I saw the paper today. Apparently the blue ranger girl is from around here. In the actual paper (not the online article) there are images of the actual blue suit, morpher, and redesigned zedd. The online article just has the blue suit artwork (also in the paper) and one of the pictures of the actress. I guess the idea behind this thing is that it's basically the MMPR team 20 years later. Not the same team members, but a current team under the original Dino team theme. I don't know how this will turn out, but I do like the costume designs.
