I was fairly unconvinced by the first episode, even though it was still totally solid, but this episode? I am one hundred percent sold! Am I too late to board the hype train?
Man this is like the episode of toku I have been waiting for since I started watching it. For so many franchises built around ordinary people gaining extraordinary powers from silly costumes, they rarely have fun with the concept through their protagonist, so seeing Kouta just have fun with his Driver was just amazing for me. It's the little touches, that really add to Kouta as well, like the fear he felt during his battle or how he goofily works his way around his powers, seemingly as impressed as the audience is that he actually won - and surprised! Badass protagonists are all well and good, but it's refreshing to have someone who feels so human, it allows a deeper emotional connection. He strikes a really good balance with Haruto, who both excel in their own areas. Hell, I even really liked Baron. I know his character is as generic as they come, but he strikes a great balance with Kouta which suggests these characters were really well thought out. That Rider kick as well man, so good.

I really dug this episode. I'll just echo what a lot of people have already said: I REALLY liked the opening portion of the episode with Kouta playing around with the driver for everyday things. His doofy smile was, perhaps, the best part. The only thing I didn't like was the Pineapple Arms look. I thought the shoulder pads on the Orange Arms were floppy and in the way but this? YEESH. I feel bad for the suit actor

Man the first half was hilarious. Haven't giggled in such glee for a long time in Toku.
This is a most interesting premise for a superhero show. Mysterious and ambiguous villains, a morally ambiguous monster, all those things. Gaim has really switched the formula they had going since W.

God, I can not get over that first half. Fun of Transforming aside, when he did the eyebrow thing I lost it. I love this guy.
Also, Pineapple arms (or Pine arms as it seems to be) was pretty cool. The boxy, plated armour look is a nice contrast to the rounded orange armour. It's different, but still cool. Also that finisher was pretty cool. Last edited by SPLIT LIP; 10-14-2013 at 12:48 PM.. |

![]() Looking forward to Baron next week. I need a J/Baron meeting to occur in something! ![]() ![]() ------------ Excellent episode, Kota goofing around with the belt was simply hilarious, leanring more about Baron was great and the lock harvesting scene was cool too. I hopw Kota stops being so public about the driver though. Also that's what the "Sparking" attack do. ![]() Lol at King failing the memory game. Btw "Armored Rider" the heck? Great combination between humor and plot. Looking forward to banana! Also, your Lockseed of the week: ![]() |
