Wow, I loved this episode. A few specifics:
- Video of Gaim's Pine Arms fight went viral! I can't express how much I love the show's integration of social media. It's so rare that we get the larger population's perceptions of Riders in these shows -- usually, we only see the stories from the main characters' POVs. Being able to see how people react to the emergence of super powered heroes broadens the world in a refreshing way. - We become privy to the rules of these dance crews' interactions. The Invess battle rules are so complex! Lends an interesting feeling of history to the proceedings. - Pine Arms looks like a matador! His segmented armor pieces move like a cape! It's so weird and unusual looking! I love it! - Kaito is a conflicted badass with a distinct moral code! I can't wait to see how he and Kouta inevitably become allies. - Mai is, so far, not a damsel in distress! She comes from the Kiva school of Rider support heroines -- tough and headstrong. We had great world building, interesting character development, legitimately funny comedy bits, likeable leads, deepening mysteries, badass action, and weird-as-hell special effects... what more could one ask for from a second episode? So far, Gaim is doing everything right. Last edited by themidnighter; 10-17-2013 at 01:08 PM.. |

Yeah, I really like that so far, Mai is not putting herself in harms way. She doesn't actively seek out danger. She obviously wants to investigate Yuuya's disappearance, but isn't going crazy and stealing the focus from Kota.

Ok, I'm loving this show so far, hope they can keep this up for the rest of the year, very inventive ways to use the weapons, like the orange head. His Rider kick is beautiful, and all the fruit puns makes me think that Sentai is writing the show

The eyebrow thing is crazy and awesome. I think the last time I truly loved someone as emotive and funny as Kouta was Nobuo from Akibaranger. Those 2 could be best buddies with all their quirks

The whole scene with Kouta doing different henshin poses reminds me of Peter Parker when he was trying to shoot the webs from the first Spider-Man movie

Which never made sense to me. Because why would he only shoot web when he did that specific hand pose and not anything else? I didn't know mutations were so picky about how they work.

Shooting the webs required movement of certain muscle groups, ones only used when pressing those fingers against his palm like that.
