... Kamen Rider, there Matrix. Kamen Rider has the more adult storylines, while Sentai tends to be more kiddish.

I'm sorry. I don't see how something can be considered more valuable and popular when, for a decade, the apparent best option for Kamen Rider was cancellation.

Well, agree or disagree, it doesn't matter. It is a fact that Rider is more popular in Japan. When I tell Japanese people I watch Tokusatsu, the first thing that comes to their mind is Kamen Rider. Most windows in toy stores are mostly decorated with Rider toys (also, the toys usually sell much better then sentai). The ratings are better etc., etc. Last edited by Suzu; 10-18-2013 at 04:14 PM.. |

I get Ultraman and Power Rangers as the first response. I saw Sentai toys on American store shelves literal years before I saw a Rider toy in an American store (Wait, correction. I've never seen a Kamen Rider toy sold in America). Ratings are fickle since you can't create an average since Kamen Rider was absent from TV screens for a decade. Using my own personal experience, I can approach you and say "I think Sentai is more popular." Until you find me a survey solidifying it, there's nothing to go on beyond personal experience and assumptions.

Any time I've ever told a Japanese person that I'm a toku fan, they don't even say KR or SS, I just get Godzilla and Gamera.
