I'm a Sentai fan - never been a huge fan of Kamen Rider - but I am surprised that these fruit toys are so popular. I thought Kamen Rider Wizard had the coolest belt, and the rings made for great collectibles. I thought they were really cool. I don't know what people see in OOO or Gaim...? Can anyone sell me on it?

Thing with Gaim and OOO is that the belt actually combines and mixes and matches. With OOO you had the different medals that made combos, and with Gaim you have different armours over a base body, and they're all swappable. Wizard was a pretty boring suit that changed colour basically. Also, he had no physical weapons between forms, just his regular sword/gun. He didn't, like, get a mace when he changed to land form. Basically OOO and Gaim offer a degree of physical change with their gimmicks Wizard did not. |

I think part of it also might be the shows' Gotta Catch 'Em All mentality. Both OOO and Gaim have our heroes fighting other people for control over O-Medals or Lock Seeds, so I suppose the show creates more draw to getting every one of the toys. The gimmicks also make every toy more like an add-on than just another random figure, so I'm sure that also adds to the incentive. I don't think many people beyond completionists were bothered that they couldn't get the Smell Ring or WAP Water Dragon, because they didn't add very much to the overall set.

I think what made kids gravitate towards the O medals was not only the Power animals theme, but also that they were cool, easy to carry coins. Plus that if you traded a core medal for another one, you got a different OOO form so that each medal was equally relevant. With lockseeds, I think its sorta the same thing. It makes its own sounds (the Invess games sounds could be used by kids to imagine Invess battles), its easy to carry in someone's pocket. Again, trading lockseeds makes each one equally relevant as each lockseed has a weapon design associated with it and its own set of sounds based on the face plate. The problem with Astroswitches and Wizard Rings was that a couple reasons. 1 Kids couldn't carry them easily, sure it fit in their pocket but the size of the gimmick item was not relative to scale of its real world counterpart. Who walks around with big hunks of palstic with different mechanisms of turning one on or huge ass rings in their pockets? 2 Most of the switches or rings had shitty powers. Dress up and light rings , switches that give Fourze a brush leg and a ski, these are a few of the lame powers that made up the gimmick. And since these ability gimmicks made up most of the toys, getting a bad one for Christmas is a high possibility Last edited by Powerman293; 11-21-2013 at 11:15 PM.. |

think of it this way, you really think the show would survive without any toys? i doubt it because people would get bored with it and selling toys without the show you would be bored.
so having both is what really works. |

So far, I don't have any toy about Gaim, I'm waiting for the Figuarts. Gaim & Baron I'm sure to get, Ryugen & Zangetsu too if they are mass market releases. I'll probably get 1 or 2 lockseeds too, just to have some...
