After Finishing Ninja Nonsense, I started Mahoromatic seasons 1 and 2 and it wasn't that bad. Now I'm starting DearS.

Eyup... To be honest the other "heroines" really aren't that important to the overall story as the primary focus remains fixed on Misuzu for the most part.

Well went back to watching naruto from where I left off when I watched on jetix in the uk but I hated the dubbed so I went subbed on it instead.

Eh, I tend to forgive those as their only a small part of a greater whole. It gets better though, trust me.

Either works fine. The dub is still funny and the unique jokes are well written for an English audience. I think comedy works best in one's own language anyway. The subs for that show are fine as well but I found a lot of stuff was lost on me.

But nonetheless it's been interesting, and made me want to grab the novel, so don't feel bad for your recommendation.
