Honestly despite everything in the season.. The only thing that truly shocked me and me jump out my seat was when Gosei was like "MORPH, MORPH, MORPH!!!" ... Like woah you know somethings at stake when your mentor is telling you to morph into action with out any further explanations.
Overrall, I give the season a 7/10. I think the final episode was really great, and nice cliffhanger for the up coming Gokaiger adaption.

I said the season was average.
A strong finish can't negate a rather average season leading up to it. The character of Troy cannot act - his ADR is 90% atrocious and "I AM READING. THIS OFF OF. A SCREEN?" It's dry and unemotional, very monotone. Robo Knight has grown on me, quite a bit actually, but a rather lackluster debut. Not really the "oomph" that a 6th Ranger brings in. Overall, it's leaps and bounds above Samurai's first season, which I would give a 1 to. But I'm not quite ready to call this season the "return to grace" for the franchise. It's a step in the right direction, but it's a long walk.

And none of that stopped me from rewiring Lukaroid into a robotic Eri. *Cackles*

I cringe at the thought of him trying to fill Marvelous's shoes.

I don't Post often but I wanted to voice my opinion here. Megaforce was not the best Power Ranger season out of the past 20 years. I think they tried to hard with the characters, and the story needed work a lot of work. Now I understand why they didn't use Angels like Goseiger its Sentai counterpart, however attempting to duplicate the magic that was mighty morphin may have not been for the best.
The characters are to be honest are failed attempts to be carbon copies of the original 5 rangers. Gosei, the Giant head on a wall, and Tensu, the annoying robot, are also supposed to mimic Zordon and Alpha. Then there is Ernie and his Juice bar I assumed they stopped trying to hide it at this point. Last there is RoboKnight the sixth ranger who surprisingly got the most development out of the whole series. Now all this is just my opinion but this whole season needed more time and more episodes. I think my biggest problem with the show on the whole was not that it was short or the plot was beaten to a minimum it was the rangers themselves. Like a said they tried too hard to make these new 5 like the original 5 and fell short. I make this comparison because the show seems to want you to do this was well. They were both high school students who became super heroes. They both even hung out at a juice bar ran by a man named Ernie. However that’s where the similarities end. The original 5 while being super heroes had to deal with things like home work, school functions, after school activities, and even dating. The closest this season even come to that is Jake pining rather creepily after Gia. The Charters got little to no development outside of Robo Knight who like ever robotic charter in any show had to learn how to be human. The only other charter development may have been Troy, Emma, and Metal Alice. Troy is seen training in a few episodes adding the hard working to his charter. Emma is shown to be concerned about the environment. And Metal Alice is devoted to Vrak and adds an opposite to Robo Knight. Over All the Characters needed work. The story was Ok though without much plot. The Zord where all right I’ve seen better in past shows. If I had to give this an out of 10 ratting with 10 being season like LSR, SPD, and RPM and well 1 being Alien Rangers and Turbo. The show is a 3 it was not great but it could have been more and with this cast returning for the next season for the Gokaiger adaption I’m a little nervous. |

Anyway, I will be using a 1-5 rating system for this. Rangers: Troy gets a 3.5. He was pretty much emotionless for most of the season and his lines were cringe-worthy but as the season went on he became bearable and started putting some actual emotion into his lines and it's a step in the right direction but he's got a long way to go. Noah gets a 4. Noah was one of three people that actually grew as a character and say what you wll about "Last Laugh" he was getting some development. He's become alot better as a ranger though I still wonder how they're gonna transition him to being a master swordsman... Jake gets a 4.5. This guy has been a joy to watch him fail to hook up with Gia but it was enjoyable all the same. Not the brightest crayon in the box but he's got it where it counts. Emma gets a 3. She got some personal episodes dedicated to her and while she also became somewhat more developed and not quite as much an eco-freak as in the initial episodes she still sounded a little preachy but not Animus from Wild Force preachy. She's gonna make a good Gokai Pink. Gia gets a 4. She already was pretty developed during the initial episodes with her interactions between Jake and Emma and over the course of the series she became the de-facto leader when Troy wasn't there as well as becoming something of a big sister to Emma. Gia to me is the one that got most of the development this season alongside Jake, Noah, and Robo Knight and she will fit into the role of Gokai Yellow perfectly. Robo Knight 4.5. This guy easily steals the show along with Metal Alice. I like that the rangers had to earn his trust even if it was rushed cause it took the Goseigers alot of time to have Gosei Knight trust them but anyway whenever he spoke you knew it was about to get good and while not the best he was better than Troy lol Story: The story gets a 3.5. It started off promising with "Mega Mission" but then kinda meandered about till "Robo Knight" and then was decent till the end. Like it was said before here it was slow to start but after awhile it snowballed into a really good story even if it was somewhat disjointed in places. The whole arc with the Mantris was awesome cause Metal Alice was single-handily the best female villian yet and Messenger was decent for the brief time he had him. Villians: Creepox wasn't as good as his counterpart in Goseiger was and I'm kinda sadden that he was killed off so early. I would've placed his death around episode 18 so he could've died alongside Malkor. 2.5. Malkor: Malkor was a decent villian but he didn't really stand out as the general of the Warstar. He really was just...There until Episode 16 but he did go out with a bang and he had a good fight so 3.5. Vrak: This guy was just as much a bastard here as in Goseiger. He really fit the role of the whole plotting from behind the scenes and this is not reflective of his score but I think his whole alliance with the toxic mutants was just a means to an end to keep Malkor busy focusing on them while he built the Mantris base. Anyway he really stood out as a villian and he kinda reminds me of Deviot form Lost Galaxy. 4.5. Metal Alice: 5/5. Nuff said. Messenger: Messenger wasn't given alot of time due to being introduced so late in the game but what we did see of him he was pretty awesome and not only showed intense loyalty to Vrak but he had alot of firepower to back it up and really messed the rangers up good. 4/5. Writing: The writing isn't really something I can comment on but early on it really felt disjointed and while the footage of the rangers morphed was good I would've liked to see more unmorphed fights. It has been better than Samurai and with the whole arc with Robo Knight it seemed to be where the most effort went and even though it somewhat ripped off Goseiger with "Last Laugh" I do have to hand it to them for putting their own original spin on things with Vrak being Walz Gil's (Veker's) brother and him creating the Mantris faction as well as keeping the Warstar around for a bit longer than in the sentai so 3.8/5. Lead-up into Super: This series has been teasing us so hard with small flashes of the Mega War, the Ranger Keys being in the Command Center, both mentions and footage of the Armada approaching Earth as well as Messenger saying they were assembled from across the universe so yeah they've been hyping it up alot and with "End Game" it has come to a head with the Armada commencing it's invasion so 5/5. Characters: Ernie: I really liked this guy for the small times we did see him even though he was around strictly because of the name but he was enjoyable in his own way. 4/5. Gosei: As a homage to Zordon and making reference to him...*incoming rant* No, you cannot pull the continuity card now since after In Space, PR has wanted to downplay elements of prior seasons outside of team-ups and while I'm sure it was just a throwaway line to entice older fans it still bugs me. *rant over* He was ineffective as a mentor and half the time in this series we never saw him and what times we did see him he was being a Zord dispenser! He is no Zordon and while I get the whole mystical guardian of the Earth vibe he's not a good leader. 2/5. Tensou: Tensou while he shared the same problem of us not seeing him alot in the early episodes we did get to see and at least hear him and teold the rangers where the monster was attacking. He was quirky and in "Gosei Ultimate" he was genuinely funny. 3.7/5 Mechs and Weapons: I love the Mechzords and weapons. Ultra Mode was awesome and all the configurations for Gosei Great were pretty cool too. My favorite though has to go to Gosei Jet even though much like the sentai it only appeared in 1 episode of the series. I loved the Megaforce blaster and seeing it come together was always a treat for me along with the Ultra Strike Finisher. Gosei Grand/Great Grand and Gosei Ultimate though are what steal the show for me. The fact Robo Knight is his own megazord and and combine with Gosei Great and use the Kuwaga, Hawk, and Manta Zords was great as well and Gosei Ultimate was great as well as I love the design of it and how it can transform into a ship but that might be the Transformers fan in me talking. 5/5. This season was good but it has some parts of it that are just cringe-worthy but it does get better as it goes on. (Robo Knight's rap included) The story while not being the most smooth was pretty decently told and I did enjoy the creative liberties they took with the source material. It does feel like this season was mostly filler to build up for Super Megaforce but on it's own it's a pretty decent season for the Neo-Saban era and if you were marathoning the PR series I don't think you'd be able to tell the difference with the other seasons. Overall I give Power Rangers Megaforce a 4/5. Last edited by Gokai Crimson; 12-01-2013 at 10:27 AM.. |

I agree. This season felt like it was haphazardly sewn together with only the villains plot set in stone. Thank god for that. One of the best villain stories in a long time.
All of the acting was too little to late. Roboknight took a while but ended up being my 2nd favorite charter, 3rd jake an first Vrak. Troy and emma were really the only weak parts of this season. Noah was...ok, way too enthusiastic when a ranger and just right when he wasn't. I had these lofty expectations of troy losing his memory or being the phanotm ranger or something but the whole oh troy is an unsolicited kid who had just moved here. That plot was gone in like 4 episodes. Now hes just a "normal kid" all outgoing and stuff. Heck if he truned out to be aka red with his mind wiped and weary of the on going war that would have made my day. I still can't shake the feeling that he is special somehow. Time will tell I guess. Oh and the professor from the school was great too. Glad he got some more airtime in the last ep. Last edited by Shinken Red; 12-01-2013 at 10:30 AM.. |

God dammit, Nickelodeon. But hell, better them than Disney. As far as the villains go, if they really wanted to make the Warstar Aliens a threat, they should have just kept them, the mutants, and the robots all under one roof instead of Vrak having to change his appearance for each group and their respective lairs. I understand that was part of Goseiger, but come on. The lead-up into Super. We know that the visions Troy had throughout the season will come to pass in the last episode for the next season. We know that they, along with every other team of Power Rangers, will fight the Armada (though I still think they should have just kept the Zangyack name). We know that Gosei was in a worried tone, yelling at the Rangers to morph when the Armada showed up. We know that the Gokaiger suits will be a powered-up form for the Goseiger suits, and that the Rangers will use the Ranger Keys to morph into previous Rangers. Finally, we know that only Tommy, TJ, Cassie, Leo, Karone, Damon, Carter, Dana, Wes, Casey, Jayden, Mike, and Emily return for a cameo. So that means the idea of having a previous Power Ranger return to give the new team their respective teams' powers is out, like what Gokaiger did. The way I see it, it looks like Gosei is going to be around to give the Megaforce Rangers the Greater Powers of the previous teams instead, what with the Ranger Keys being in his Command Center and all. The Rangers themselves are tolerable, though I think Troy's actor can do a lot better. Most of the time, he sounds, looks, and acts robotic, and when the voice actor for Robo Knight does a better job emoting than the Red Ranger, you know something's wrong. Nothing against the actor, hopefully his acting improves. The Megazords, the Gosei Morphers, and the weapons are probably the only things I genuinely liked about Megaforce. The Megazord itself has that charm that reminds me of the original Megazord in a way, and while the Morphers may look silly, the idea of using Power Cards is clever. I just wish they used Ranger Cards instead of Ranger Keys for Super Megaforce, to be perfectly honest. The weapons are nice, too; it's not often we get a bowgun in a Power Rangers series. Come to think of it, I think this is the first time we actually have a bowgun weapon for Power Rangers. Nice! Personally? I think Saban could have done so much better with Megaforce. There were quite a few good ideas he could have done instead of just being a cheap tightwad. Something tells me he's going to cheap out again when Super Megaforce airs. |
