Okay!
So we learned in Episode 09 that it could appear that humans who are NOT Kamen Riders that eat the fruit from Hellheim forest turn in to advanced Inves monsters. We know this because we saw a sewer worker go to eat the fruit, and then only his helmet remained as a strange bat monster, that didn't like to eat our world's fruit, attacked people. So let's go back to Episode 01. Yuuya Sumii, the captain of Team Gaim, is given a Sengoku Driver from Sid. Yuuya immediately texts both Kouta and Mai to come see him - only he's not where he said he'll be, instead there's a portal to Hellheim. Kouta and Mai go through. Kouta wants to eat the fruit but is snapped out of it from Mai's scream. Mai can stand perfectly next to the fruit and doesn't seem to give a damn. They find a Sengoku Driver laying on the ground - is it Yuuya's? A strange monster that is evolved from an Inves is coming at them. Could that be Yuuya, who ate the fruit? It's important to note - the monster DID NOT ATTACK KOUTA AND MAI. It simply approached them and they ran away. It let out some weird blast when they were hiding from it, and then it approached Kouta again, but he attacked it - and thus it attacked back. He turns in to Gaim - and as soon as he does, the monster goes ballistic on him. During the fight, after Gaim has attached the swords together, the Hellheim Mai appears and says, and I quote (from Aeisr subs): "Be warned." "Your choice now will turn the course of fate." "Continue down this path...and there shall be no turning back." "You will have to fight until the bitter end." "Till the world is dyed in your image." Kouta responds, "If that's what it takes to protect you!" Hellheim Mai then REMOVES THE LOCKSEED FROM THE SENGOKU DRIVER AND PUTS IT IN KOUTA'S HAND. The monster attacks, Kouta knocks him off the edge, and jumps after him. He looks back at Hellheim Mai, who points to something, and Kouta looks at his sword and realizes the lock fits on. Then she is gone. My theory? Yuuya is the monster. Yuuya did not attack them until he was attacked first. Once Kouta attacked, Yuuya defended himself. Hellheim Mai stopped him from killing the monster, even as far as taking the Lock Seed off the Sengoku Driver, telling him if he kills the monster, his fate is sealed. Kouta doesn't understand (MUST SAVE THE GIRL LOLZ) and keeps attacking the monster. What was Hellheim Mai pointing at? I don't know. But Kouta thinks it was his sword. I don't think it was personally. Anyways, as soon as he connects the Lock Seed to the sword, Hellheim Mai is gone. It's fun re-watching these eps now that we know more to the story.

Yeah, definitely makes you think a bit. At first I was thinking it was in a similar vein of how things were with Ryuki, once you make the choice to become a rider you must fight until the end, but you bring up a very good point with perhaps it was his decision to kill the monster she was referring to.

Pretty sound observations. I noted a few of those things myself when I rewatched epsode 1 a few weeks ago after I had a downloaded a higher quality version of the episode.

Your theory doesn't quite match up. The creature's blast was obviously the first strike, Kouta and Mai were not engaging it before that. And if blonde-Mai was trying to stop him from killing the monster, why did she remove the lock while it was open? We've seen you have to put it back on then close it to revert back. If she wanted to stop him from fighting, she would have closed it. The only purpose the lock serves removed and open is as an attack, and she pointed straight at his sword. Removing the open lock does nothing but start the finisher. And of course, there's just the general ridiculousness of why be so cryptic if she's tryign to get him to stop. Kouta had no idea what was going, he had no chance to. If anyone's to blame for Yuuya's death, it's blonde Mai, for being a generic cryptic sage.
Also, "MUST SAVE THE GIRL LOLZ" is kind of radical when he's, y'know, fighting for his life. It's a really harsh and irrational thing to put on a character who's just trying to survive and protect his friend. You're making Kouta sound like an idiot when, from his perspective, he did the rational thing to do. He didn't even know the attack would kill it. I agree the Invess was Yuuya, he was wearing a yellow shirt afterall, and the way it runs kind of looks like it's chsing after them to get their attention, not to attack, but once in the real world it turned hostile, possibly frustrated or losing control. Also, it's voice is not typical monster voice, but actually sounds more human than mindless monsters are usually given. Last edited by SPLIT LIP; 12-19-2013 at 09:59 PM.. |

I'm still not convinced. Sound analysis here though guys, sounds very plausible.
One thing that catches my eye? Quote:
They find a Sengoku Driver laying on the ground - is it Yuuya's?
We now know that Sengoku Drivers aren't exactly rare. After all, Sid keeps pulling them out of no where (and is a devious bastard). We know there are more riders to come. Multiple versions of the same lock seed are very possible given the nature of Helheim. We may even end up with three Kurokage's. I think I just want Yuuya to come back haha Both options (dead and not-dead) seem equally possible to me at this point. It's all up in the air. I don't know if Yuuya became an Invess or not, but I did agree that after watching the First Episode of Gaim myself (This series is so awesome.) that the monster attacked first in the real world. Can't wait to see what happens though.

I can't even believe we're arguing that it's not Yuya's. It clearly is/was. They were supposed to meet him where the driver was found. Obviously the rip opened before Mai & Kouta got there, he went in, and either
A) ate a fruit and became an Invess as I've heavily suspected since episode 1 OR B) the Invess killed him/ate him In either case that has to have been the driver Sid gave Yuya. And unless the big mega secret of the series is somehow that Yuya winds up being Sigurd, he's gone.
