Making my way through Final Fantasy 9 again.
Childhood nostalgia aside…this still remains one of my all time favrioute FF games. Honestly never understood the hype for FF7. |

I suppose it was simply at the right place, played by the right people at the right time. Things like that will embed you in people's nostalgia forever.

FF7's hype came from a lot of factors including graphics, story telling, and solid game play all coming together with a hint of animu that, for American audiences at the time, was rare.
FF7 was a game ultimately about the story first, which was in an era where the only games that had deep stories were either relegated to PC or you had to read a book first.
