I won't comment on the rest of your thoughts, since if you don't like something, that's your opinion, but I really can't understand this. Other than their personal weapons and transformation devices (which are typical of basically any show), what product placement was there? Compared to Kamen Rider and Sentai and how much they shove ranger keys, lock seeds, magic rings, batteries or whatever else in your face, Precure is really tame in comparison, especially as they don't even make toys of absolutely everything in the show, nor do they spend excess amount of time posing in front of the camera with them.
It's a shame you're giving it up so soon though, it really does have some of the best character development and I found them to be so much more relatable than the typical clumsy/lazy/likes to eat archtypes you see in things like Sailor Moon. You have to remember that Sailor Moon codified that particular archetype. At the time, Usagi was a pretty unusual portrayal of a girl in Japanese media. It's only cliched now because Sailor Moon was so influential. |

I was thrown every time they used their weapons or transformation devices. The animation style would flip from stylized/cartoony 2D cell animation to hyper-detailed/photo-realistic 3D CGI just to showcase the items. It wasn't the quantity of product placement that bothered me, it was the quality and how distracting it was within the show.
It's not focusing on them just because there are toys to sell. They all have a purpose in the show's fiction. It's similar to toku, but also different in that in HeartCatch's case it's not introducing like one-off items because there are toys to sell to the kids.

I saw some clips of the DBZ special that had Vegeta's brother in it.
It seems like a pretty fun movie, yeah it has all the DBZ cliches but what's making it work is how everyone isn't really taking it seriously, they're all acting like it's an ordinary day for them which in their universe it could be considered "Normal" for them which in DBZ is a pretty refreshing change of pace. I'll eventually see Madoka, but it won't be until Aniplex releases the series on BD in one collection for a much much MUCH cheaper price than they are trying to sell each volume.

I need to finish that show. I still haven't watched past episode 2.
