			The problem is the negative connotations the word has. No matter how swashbuckling the adventures are, people will bitch about pirates being the heroes regardless.

			Because most of the time in kid's programming, the pirate is used as a villain or comic relief ploy, never really as the main hero. True there are some shows that break this mold, but 95% it's a pirate being villainous. Of course it wouldn't be the first time Power Rangers was close to pirates...
