To better put it in perspective, they literally stated that Daigo's flaw was that he was too perfect.

I'll post the thoughts I have from Ep 48 here:

Pros: 1) Acting: *snip* 2) Babe factor: *snip* 3) Action: *snip* 4) Special F/X: *snip* 5) Deboss turn good: *snip* Cons: 1) Daigo: Now don't get me wrong. Daigo is the epitome of brave and what this show is about. But he's just too PERFECT (or Pafekt like Utchy would say) and his lack of any flaws is what makes him so boring, predictable, and hard to relate to. *snip* 2) Daigo getting the girl, Amy: *snip* 3) Deboss monsters pretty underwhelming: *snip* While I really like this show a lot, the thing that holds me back from giving it a perfect grade is Daigo. I wish the writer didn't have such a hard-on for him. Seeing him always so immaculate takes away the focus from other characters, and in a show where the cast is over 20, that's a real disservice to the fans IMO. Daigo. His flawlessness is, to me, the whole point of his character. There's even a full episode that hangs a lantern on it -- the one where KyoryuGray shows that his flawlessness is his greatest weakness. I know I've posted this argument before, but I see Daigo as more of a Doctor Who/Superman type. These characters typically come as pre-packaged, perfect heroes straight out of the box. They rarely grow and change, but that's okay because that's not their story purpose. Instead, they act as catalysts who inspire growth and change in their flawed, human companions. I'd be more inclined to share peoples' contempt for the character if every episode were about Daigo, but I can't recall many exclusively Daigo-centric episodes. Instead, I saw a lot of, "Daigo's perfect bravery inspires x-teammate of the week to become a braver hero" episodes. And then, in the end, it's everyone's bravery -- which Daigo incubated -- channeled through him (via their song) that allows him to defeat Deboss. Long story short, I think Kyoryuger is better for having Daigo. He's unlike any other reds I've seen in Sentai. Basically, I like Daigo. There! I said it!

Still not a Daigo fan. You can love him all you want, being intentionally perfect doesn't justify it. He just doesn't feel like a strong character compared to the rest of the cast.

However I also know there are some very vocal lovers of the show like my man Sentai - who is one of the main reasons I watched Goseiger which turned out to be my new favourite sentai - so I've been lurking and reading every post in this thread to see if maybe I just turned off right as things got good. But... I guess not, even those with a positive outlook on the show don't seem to have much nice to say when they start to really outline the details of their feelings and that is if they aren't just glossing over problems like lots of people appear to be doing. Oh well. If you were to ever give the show another shot, I'd recommend watching the following 24 episodes: 17-18, 21-24, 26-29, 33-36, 39-48 Sure, you miss a few plot details, but nothing you wouldn't be able to infer (or wiki) an explanation for. But these episodes provide a pretty satisfying/complete experience. Last edited by Kamen Rider Lucha; 02-12-2014 at 05:21 PM.. |

When you get past the introductions, I think there are some great episodes of Kyoryuger. It gets less overtly juvenile as it becomes more serialized.

But, if you do want to revisit, you could throw in Eps 1-4 (introduction to the characters), 9-10 & 12 (KyoryuGold joins the team), and 16. I also really love episode 14, but I think you might passionately hate it.

So one to four, nine to twelve, fourteen and then the episodes you listed?
