I really enjoyed Faiz's action, but I just felt it became increasingly bogged down by the disconnect between Rider and Character, the impossible to place geography of the series and the fact the show has no plot or actual characters. It was just lots of random shit happening, but despite so much happening, the show never seemed to go anywhere.

ROFLMFAO
I like a lot of stuff about Faiz but the show was really bad at answering questions. Like, why can't Mari transform into any of the Riders Despite having Orphnoch blood like all of the other Ryuusei kids and even getting a refill once she died? Or was everyone from Smart Brain in on the whole Orphnoch thing? Including the board of investors? And what is society's reaction to the Orphnochs? No seriously, they never answer something as big as the next step in human evolution in society. They have Orphnochs rule the world in the movie, but in the TV show, anyone that's not an Orphnoch doesn't seem aware of their existence. Despite me not liking Kuuga, at least that show had the decency to show how society reacted to the Grongi and show people's reactions to the growing threat. And Ryuki had the excuse that it was a secret Rider war (haven't seen Agito yet so I don't know about that one) |

Well the geography of Faiz was so bad, I was pretty much certain that outside of Lucky Clover, The President, Takkun's gang and the Ryuusei school the city was entirely empty. That is the only way I can fathom how our heroes seem to always stumble across Orphenoch attacks without build up, context or even any effort at continuity of time and place.

LOL Locke, you and I have a lot in common in noticing small details like no civilians and world building.

![]() It's also a testament to just how poor Faiz is that we actually have so little focus on the action that we notice these things.

The action for Faiz was actually was the least interesting part for me. The characters and moral dilemmas took center stage and I kinda forgot that the show had superhero fight scenes in it by the end of the episode. Combined with the fact that the action was sorta awkward. It was halfway between what I liked about Ryuki and Blade's fighting.
Ryuki while slow, mostly due to the cards, was very clean, making it very obvious what moves each character did and I could tell what's going on. (Plus I like the Contract monsters). Blade, while it also used cards, was faster and down and dirty. Faiz was sort of this awkward middle where it tried to be down and dirty, but the stupid ass mission memories needing to be inserted made the battles twice as long and half as interesting. Plus, the CG motorbikes didn't show up enough to fill that void that the contract monsters did. |

I only couldn't get invested in the characters because a) pretty much all of them were assholes b) they were never properly defined c) there was just this huge disconnect between Rider and character.
Episode, after episode, would open with Takkun getting his ass beaten by some villain or him taking down a villain or whatever but then the credits would roll and we'd see him sat about, maybe eating some food and the action wont even be referenced ever again, even when Major villains like Mr J got taken down, as soon as he died he was never mentioned ever again. Plus, with the way they only ever bookended the action any way, you could literally cut out the Faiz part of the show and it wont have any impact at all, which is kinda problematic in a show called Faiz... Personally up until Delta's introduction I thought Faiz had fantastic action. Axel's super speed bursts were fantastically realised, Auto Vajin is epic, the special effects were surprisingly high quality when you compare it to the atrocious special effects in Blade which came immediately after this and I felt the show did lots of interesting things in the way it used both the monsters and the Riders. But why should I care about any of this if it never feels like a part of the wider show?
