I would just buy it, but I tend to wait until it's released in a single, budgeted collection. A single bluray volume is like thirty poundsm and that is ridiculous.

Oh yeah... that.

Gundam Comiplation movie 2
One of the best parts about Gundam is seeing people breakdown and come to realizations. And this movie had 2 epic ones, one most notably being Amuro. I like Amuro's character development a lot more in this movie as we meet his mother and see the conflicting ideals both of his parents trying to raise him have and Amuro's desires surprising his mom. So the White Base is still roaming around earth doing as the Federation commands. it was actually pretty nice to see some character development from the other pilots. Along with some different mobile suits that aren't Zakus. Blue Zaku dude wasn't even a threatening villain. He was just "GRRRR Garma revenge!" He sorta died with a suicide attack after talking to miss blonde royal. Char doesn't even show up until halfway through the movie. Plot's going slightly faster, although I'm not sure if that is because I'm more invested. They mention Newtypes a bit more but I'm not quite sure I can tell what makes them different. Gundam compilation movie 3 Damn, they really raised the bar, they're back in space and we get a more fleshed out view of Zeon and..... the space Nazi comparison is quite obvious. Not that I don't mind the more defined morality with this joke of a government, but they took this mysterious opposing side that you could understand their view with and turned them into Newtype purists. I'M A FIRIN' MY LASAR! Oh wait, that actually killed the Zeon leader and half the Federation forces. Movie's over Zeon wins... wait.... This movie REALLY focuses on Newtypes and actually show their abilities. Lalah was such a weird character because Amuro had a strong relationship with her because.. she's a newtype? I'm not quite sure on that but okay. And hey Char knows her and loves her, aw how cute..... ANNNNND she's dead. Her relationship with both Amuro and Char caused them to fight over their ideals. Actually this is what the Char and Amuro "rivalry" needed to actually become pretty epic towards the end of the movie. I was uninterested in Char until this plot point and now i am satisfied with the resolution. So.... did Lalah awaken Amuro's abilities to psychically communicate with others? Or did the writers just pull it out of thier ass in order to make it so Amuro saves everybody while he was getting to his ship? Ah, who cares? The war is over! Sex for everybody when they get home! Overall, I like this movie trilogy. I think that they are great movies, but if you're just in it for the giant robots, think again buddy. the mobile suit battles are the least interesting parts of these movies as the tragedy of war and military discipline take center stage. Time to watch some Zeta movies next. |

![]() HeartCatch Precure episode 7: He's really a girl, isn't he? ... ... I knew it! Anyway, it was pretty good. The Student Council president was probably the most interesting minor character thus far. It seems like the girl who dresses and acts like a boy for an important reason is common in Japanese fiction. We have Naoto from Persona 4 who did it to carry on her family's detective legacy, and then the Student Council president who did it here because she had to inherit her family's dojo after her older brother got sick. She seems like she'd make a good Precure, what with already knowing how to fight and all, that and she's been given screentime in the past.
