I'm 5 episodes into Kabuto and so far its really not grabbing me. Granted not a lot has happened yet (and no others riders have been introduced), but all I've got so far is that Tendou's a dick and Kagami a buffoon. Clock up as a concept is cool, but the battles get repetitive really quickly.
The whole thing with his brother has been the only bit able to hold my interest so far. Well, that and the badass Kabuto Zecter voice. ![]() |

Everyone else is fantastic and have some very interesting stories. Goes from buffoon to Badass when he becomes Gatack. |

Yeah Kuuga is terrible, I'm really glad that over the years more people seem to realise. Also I preferred it with the Grongi subbed, I get the whole "atmosphere" thing but the Grongi scenes are usually LONG and without any visual prompts to try and establish what they are talking about and I just got fed up of nearly ten minutes of every episode given to a bunch of people stood around shouting gibberish at one another with no context for the audience.

It's the kinda show where you need to see the whole thing, to really capture why it is so bad. Not that I'd ever put you through that, poor soul. The final ten episodes are just a total mess, you get to the end and realise that Godai has had zero character development throughout the whole show - plus they eventually introduce this super healing thing too, so in one scene he gets like skewered on a wall and bleeds all over the place and then LITERALLY THE NEXT SCENE he's like cooking curry for everyone. Dafook, is this the same show?
But to answer your question, I actually liked the start of Kuuga a lot. It had a budget, it had some interesting ideas and a steady flow of new and exciting forms. But then the money ran out and there were still about forty episodes left and about a million innocent bystanders to murder (which the show wont shut up about, especially if there are reactionary suicides or dead children, Kuuga LOVES those) while Godai goofily shows off how bad he needs braces and does fuck all else. Kabuto 01. What is it with Japanese Media and an obsession with food?
Like with most opening toku episodes, it's deceptively good. I already know for a fact this show doesn't keep up this level of quality for more than one or two episodes more. Still though, at least this episode is enjoyable on its own.

Is there a list of episodes that might cull the series down to, like... 20 or 25? Instead of 50+. That might make it an easier proposition for me. Or... I could just suffer through the whole thing and earn my KR Fan-badge like the rest of you. ![]() Quote:

Cut him a little slack. Maybe he took the job to afford the braces?
