I'm pretty sure Fox wants to (for some reason) hold on to the rights of FF.

It is. But it's only possible because Marvel got the movie rights back.

Clearly Fox (Or Sony or whoever the hell owns the FF movie rights) sees something in the Fantastic Four that's worth saving keeping away from Marvel.
