The guy who was that group wanted to sub his favorite episodes first, then fill in the rest. That's pretty much why Changeman is the only project he (almost) finished (although he did get about 75% of Metalder, missing out just the third quarter of it).

Who rated this thread three stars?
![]() Gokaiger 37. Someone's clearly been watching Mikazuki! This was a pretty solid episode, even if it was a tad unfocused. The Dogormin were made to look extremely lame on their first appearance, so I don't get why they were introduced at all but both Barizorg and even Walz Gil got to be awesome this week. And if all the great action wasn't enough, we got some really nice character moments slotted around and threaded through the action.

Something Random. What I find interesting about GoGoFive is that in it's literal translation, it already is translated as Go-Go Five. But I also see it is a pun being like 99 sentai 555. But hey, I only get these hunches from the internet and google translate.

Gokaiger 38.
So wait the Gokaiger Ultimate Power is...another piece of Go-Onger merchandise? Why? Is Go-Onger really that huge in Japan? Conceptually Ultimate GokaiOh is actually kinda cool looking, but the the big, clunky, flappy suit leaves a lot to be desired. I'd much rather a much more streamlined final form, that doesn't appear to completely limit the actors movements. That is why I'd much rather the heroes got a mech like Great Walz than the usual stacked mess they get as final upgrades. In some contexts it kinda works, like in Go-Busters as it sort of made the suit feel powerful and heavy to have the actor so limited in his movement but the context isn't really existent here. Joe and Barizorg's final showdown was great, although I kind of wish they had done more with this story. You think having the heroes established from the start would give them greater freedom to explore what makes each hero tick, but instead pretty much every Gokaiger has a half finished backstory, but some are slightly more barebones than others - like I know next to nothing about Gai or Doc. Joe and Barizorg feel like wasted potential but it especially doesn't help that Marvelous has been reduced to a bad, stock, shounen protagonist.

Gokaiger 39.
Walz Gil dies and we get a filler episode immediately afterwards?! I know what this episode pretends to be, but this was pure filler... This was probably one of the worst tributes, just because it was so utterly boring and throwaway. I mean it wasn't quite as offensively bad as that Gaoranger tribute, but if you are a MegaRanger fan this episode probably left you feeling like shit. That said the tribute morph as usual was pretty awesome and a good advertisement for the respective series. The true saving grace of the episode though is Basco, he's basically tacked onto the show, despite being so important within it - how'd they even manage that? - but he's an utter badass and he's definitely the best villain now Great Walz has been destroyed along with Barizorg.

My problem with Barizorg is that it was clear his story was going to be a letdown the moment they revealed the transformation was irreversible. The fight was nice, but the actual story was stagnant beyond "We need Joe to have some kind of connection."
And hey, you found out why I'm not a Marvelous fan ![]()

Almost on the Gokaiger final stretch so let's talk about Go-Onger 02.
I feel like I want to like this show more than I actually do, the general production values are great but it's really, really boring outside of the action sequences and full of unlikeable characters. I don't feel like giving up on it yet, but I hope later episodes carry the imagination and personality from the action, into the bits which don't involve fighting.

Gokaiger 40. I guess this episode would have meant more if Timeranger was even subbed, I honestly didn't have a whole lot to take away from this. They went backwards in time and found themselves in the middle of a battle where the Shinkenger and the Goseiger are teaming up...and it is never as awesome as the set up sounds. Meh.
