I always thought Sponebob was a dumb show. There's no way around that little factoid.
But a show can be bearably stupid (Like Robot Chicken, Gumball, etc) and watchable. Spongebob skirted that line until the movie. I don't watch Spongebob anymore, I'm just saying that pre-movie was actually watchable

I can't really tell the difference to be honest, but that's because I grew up avoiding Spongebob and only started watching as an adult. Now, I quite enjoy it, stupid though it can be (both pre and post movie). Maybe you guys have just changed your tastes as you grew?

Even now the pre movie stuff is pretty stupid to me. I suppose it's just a case of growing up and changing tastes in comedy and entertainment.
