And the heroes deciding to refuse an easy way out or a big advantage because they deem the price to be too high is just as classic a cliche. The Gokaigers are simply not okay with essentially murdering some 200 people they've come to respect, not even to bring back their own loved ones.

You're expecting them to make a hardcore cynical choice in a very idealistic show.

More sadly, its more like 5% while the other 35% is them doing nothing but be in the background. The evil Gokaigers were super hyped and lasted less then two scenes.

Exactly. The show has definite flaws, huge flaws even, but that episode was not among them. It made various efforts for a special battle and just because Locke apparently doesn't remember it doesn't stop that from having happened. Subjectivity of an episode being good or bad is fine, because its OK to hate an episode or love an episode for your own reasons, but when an episode clearly goes out of its way to make a battle more notable then any others it is objectively not like any other MOTW, even if it was only a singular episode.

But that is like every other VS movie for Sentai. The opposing team is evil for like a minute and then it is either revealed they were under cover or the evil spell broke.
