Really? Maybe I'll check it out, I thought the general censorship and low budget of the original anime really undermined what was a pretty damn epic if not a little generic manga.

Honestly without censorship of those body parts for the actual episodes they wouldn't be allowed to air it on public television. It's rated TV 14 which isn't as revealing as a TV MA anime or cartoon, fair bit of info,

Fairy Tail is the only big shounen adaptation I've watched where the censorship was extremely heavy and unmissable if you've read the manga also - the other big ones have had moments of censorship but they've largely been isolated and self contained. Fairy Tail is one of the worst anime adaptations I've watched, other than those horrid Reborn! and Soul Eater animes.

Honestly, Fairy Tail tops it, plus before the eclipse project arc there's an episode in the GMG arc in the anime where they have a swimsuit contest before Jenny & Mirajane, second one being my waifu, duke it out. Honestly there are a few bits in the anime they weren't able to censor, but remember shounen isn't ecchi so they can't have a heavy amount of fanservice unlike shows like Highschool DxD does dude .

And Fairy Tail was never Highschool of the Dead levels of gratuitous in its fanservice. It was certainly heavier than usual, though. But it wasn't just the boobs that were censored, the action was toned down and neutered, the actual content for the rarer darker moments was softened etc
