With the Figuart now out now seemed like the perfect time to watch Shin Kamen Rider: Prologue. I have VERY mixed feelings about it The characters and the pacing were dreadful. None of the characters were at all memorable, and the first 40 minutes was basically just Shin running around while people gave him extremely vague answers to questions and said "the Organisation" repeatedly. While I like the idea of a more adult-orientated Kamen Rider too, nothing says try hard like 4 gruesome murders in the first 3 minutes and nudity which adds absolutely nothing to the story. Thankfully things picked up a bit once the first proper transformation happened. I quite liked that the organisation remained unexplained and just stayed in the shadows for now, but there were way too many things left unexplained by the end of it. I guess that's the problem of a Prologue that was never followed by anything, but a better attempt to make it stand alone could have easily been made. The ending was not just abrupt, it was pretty bad all around. What was really amazing about this film though were the visual affects. That brilliant transformation, the gruesome fighting style, the level 2 cyborg, the weird head-splitting telepathy thing...it was all so gloriously 90s and encompassed everything I love about practical effects. If anything the biggest problem was that there simply wasn't enough of it. Oh, and that embryo was laughably bad Certainly an interesting film worth checking out, but not really a good one.

Well, I watched Fourze 1-8 for the first time today. I was gonna stop around two or four episodes, but I was having too much fun. This series is awesome! Space is awesome! Gentaro's an awesome Rider so far with a lotta personality, and his goal of making friends with EVERYONE in the school is an admirable one. But man...this is one weird ass school! Why do most of the delinquents look like they're in their thirties, haha. It's really cool seeing how he slowly builds up the Kamen Rider club, through helping out the students. And best of all ,the old Neo-Heisei format of two partners isn't' bothering me at all. |

Been watching Kamen Rider W finally and man just finished watching episodes 5 and 6, that was such a nice thing for Philip to do and Shoutro too but god that made me sad, the poor girl thinks her father is W. Really well done set of episodes too, ones of those times I appreciate the two episode arcs.

Watching both Faiz and Ryuki...SO hard to believe the same actress plays both Faiz's Smart Girl and Ryuki's Shimada...definitely shows her versatility.

Thinking of watching Ryuki myself seeing as I burnt pretty much all my other Rider options at this point.

I like Ryuki but I don't know if you would. Lots of slice of life stuff and Shinji and Ren could annoy you.It has a similar thing to Gaim where there's a lot of Riders, but there’s less of them and I think they're better utilized then Gaim up to this point.

Well I still have Amazon to work through. Maybe I'll start rewatching Rider shows afterwards, rather than trying Ryuki. Wouldn't mind giving OOO and Wizard a second go around, just to see how my favourites hold up.
