It's been so long since I've seen Alien or Aliens, and I don't think I've ever watched Aliens 3 in full before...Hm...

The Warriors is probably one of the best Blurays I own, not only does The Warriors seem to age better with every viewing but it's one of the most loving restorations in my collection since I watched my Jaws Bluray. I'm a little disappointed that it doesn't come with the theatrical release, but I think I'm one Warriors fan who can live with, and even enjoy, the Directors version.
Also watched a little British TV movie called 'The 7:39' wasn't expecting to absolutely love its portrayal of real life, but I'm honestly thinking of putting it on, if not the top of my best of the year list, in the top three. Wonderful.

I haven't seen them in a few years either. 3 I believe I saw on TV once and I never bothered with Resurrection. I've always been more of a Predator guy.

Just had a mini X-Men marathon with my friend and rewatched First Class, Wolverine Origins and 1 & 2. Need to go back and do 3 and The Wolverine at some point before DoFP is out of the cinemas.
I enjoyed First Class when it first came out, but back then I was a lot less forgiving about source material changes with gave me a lot of problems with it. This time I was a lot less judgemental and enjoyed it even more, though I still hate the way they did Emma Frost in it. But that shot right at the end with Magneto in the red - completely forgot about it and how much it gives me tingles. Origins I'm a bit ashamed to say I enjoyed a bit more this time around too. It's still not a great movie and the big changes are pretty unforgivable, but up to a certain point (roughly around the time he gets the adamantium) its a fairly solid film. 1 & 2 I hadn't seen in YEARS, and man I love them just as much now as I ever did.

Saw 22 Jump Street as my first movie of 2014. It was overall worth seeing it.
I got to give credit to the writers who knew people would have doubts about a sequel and the movie was a barrel of laughs. Plus it was smartly written with a plot that knew where it had to go but didn't make it painfully obvious about this matter. It was a retread of the first movie in a new setting, but it was entertaining and if given the chance I'd see it in theaters again, plus buy its Blu Ray when it comes out. |

If you've seen Doug and Rob Walker's Sibling Rivalry in How to Train Your Dragon 2, then you know how they say that in the movie a character dies and you kinda see it coming. Well after watching that masterpiece I must say that said event shocked me. Mostly because I was expecting Hiccup's mom to die when it turns out Hiccup's DAD dies.
Well, that played against my expectations of the "Main character meets their long lost XYZ and shortly after reuniting, the long lost XYZ dies and the main character vows to fulfill their dying wish/life's goal" trope happening in this movie. |
