Having seen all of Pierce's and Daniel's Bond films, I can say with utter certainly that Die Another Day was bad. Madonna and Halle Berry were not good choices for Bond girls and it seem like plot was ignored for stupid and pointless special effects. The only good thing it did was set up Daniel's place as one of the better Bonds, though Pierce has his moments.

She used to be good but after that trainwreak "Music" she's been subpar at best. I think it's best if she retired as her music now is a pale reminder that she used to be good.
But the only good choice made regaurding Madonna was that one cutaway on Family Guy when Peter drank Red Bull. That was classic! |

Personally, I love On Her Majesty's Secret Service, despite not having Sean Connery in it. It is one of only two James Bond 007 movies (the second being The Spy Who Loved Me) in my small laserdisc collection. Yes, George Lazenby is the least memorable Bond, but he still did a fairly good job filling in Connery's shoes.
Of course, Connery will always be the definitive James Bond, and all of his films are excellent. If there is one that's considered weak (not counting the Thunderball remake Never Say Never Again), it's Diamonds Are Forever. Roger Moore is the Adam West of the James Bond 007 series, but I grew up on that era and A View to a Kill was the first 007 film I saw in theaters, and I've seen every single one in the big screen ever since. Yes, Moore's stint is a mixed bag, but whether you like him or not, The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only should be in anyone's 007 movie collection. In retrospect, I actually think Moonraker is better than A View to a Kill, though they are the bottom two of the Moore era. I'm more or less neutral toward the Timothy Dalton era, as both The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill are not very memorable (aside from the hot Bond Girls who starred in them). I always thought Pierce Brosnan was a perfect Bond way before Dalton got the job. As a matter of fact, Brosnan was supposed to replace Moore, but backstage politics by NBC (who had him under contract for Remington Steele) kept him out. And while Brosnan really made a name for himself as 007 with GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies, his stint was marred by The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day, which are the two worst Bond movies ever made. Daniel Craig has been perfect as Bond, especially in Casino Royale, but Quantum of Solace was a bit of a letdown. Currently, I only have Goldfinger on Blu-ray and Casino Royale on DVD, but I'll be building up my 007 Blu-ray collection within the next year.

I'm actually with you on this one. It wasn't Moore at his clowniest (which would be Octopussy, in which he was literally a clown), but it was close. And by this point he was visibly way too old for the part.
I really need to see Quantum of Solace again. I've only watched it once and I don't remember it all that well. |

Plus you had the best theme song of the decade, and the most successful -- "A View To A Kill" by Duran Duran hit #1 on the US charts and #2 on the UK charts. No other Bond theme song can claim that. Quote:

It's still better than The World Is Not Enough.

I respectfully disagree. Quantum of Solace was nearly unwatchable. Long, overblown, confusing, and unsatisfying. TWINE has some really groan-worthy elements, but it has some good ones to go with it. QoS is not so lucky.
