yeah the older mechs where basicly a giant boxy brick

even daizyujin and dairen-oh are basically plastic bricks even though i love them but only due to nostalgia if they came out today probably would not have the same feeling


even though dairen-oh had a nice transformation and i think that might beable to work with a new series have a main central mech that is a triple changer then have different auxiliary mech teams that form armor for the central unit.

even have the armor teams be able to form armor for a second central mech much like won tiger

i could get behind that but have aux mech teams of 3 or 4 just for armor would get pricey though

The older mechas can move a little fast than current ones.The current ones barely can move.

show or toys? because the older toys basically had 45* ratchets in the arms

and with the shows becuase of CGI the newer mechs are shown to move a lot more freely and quickly. geki tohja being one of the quickest and most agile combined robos

The style of movement of the gattai really depends on the season. Gekiranger had a fast moving one, so did Hurricaneger and Dekaranger, but Shinkenger's was a giant samurai and samurai aren't known for their super quick fighting style. Gokaiger's could move fast and it was comprised of all the mechs you are saying can't move fast.

If you are saying the actual suits are too heavy, then there may be some merit to that, but looking at 80's sentai, those things barely moved. They would form, pose, fight for maybe 20 seconds, then do a finisher and that was it. And the older seasons had the gattai move more like robots instead of fighters, so their movements were slower and more mechanical.

I still think if an 80's style mech was used today, it would not excite the fans and target audience. Kids like more complex toys (and honestly, so do collectors) and having a gattai that only has two pieces would be a bit of a let down. So no, I couldn't get behind the idea of bringing back the 80's and early 90's style gattai. For example, Go-Busters had a simple gattai and it did not sell well at all.

It was different, but it was also simple and didn't catch the attention of the kids. A gattai that would be only 2 or 3 pieces could get the same or a worse reception.
