![]() Says the guy who thinks Dairanger's 100 year reset of it's conflict isn't the EXACT same thing. Open ended. And being open ended doesn't make ToQger bad, you seem to have just hated the show from the outset, skipped a majority of it, then swooped in at the end to complain. Pretty much like you did with any other show I've ever seen you complain about. I didn't skip the majority of the show for the sake of skipping it. I skipped it because I found it to be down right awful. However, like every Sentai series, my rule is to watch at least the first 5 episodes and the final four regardless. Nevertheless, a crappy ending is still a crappy ending. I wouldn't want to sit through this series in full with that ending. And I complained about Go-Buster, but I sat through every pain inducing episode and then regretted it when the series ended. I also sat through all of Wizard and I'm currently sitting through Drive. |

Shadam was killed. However, I never said Dai's ending was perfect, but at least they killed the main villain.

I'm not saying Gritta had to die. I didn't say they had to completely eliminate the Shadow Line. I'm saying Zed needed to die because he was the main villain. Zed just being kidnapped by Gritta means he is still out there to kill everyone. Just look at MagiRanger. They didn't get rid of Infershia, but they killed Nma, the main villain. |

If you had seen the series, you would know Zed doesn't WANT to kill everyone. If you skipped like 90% of the important explanations (which happened before you picked up again, in the middle of the show, duh), you have no right to complain because you have no idea what you're talking about.

I don't see how not seeing every episode makes the ending any less craptacular.

All you're proving is that you didn't watch the show. If you had watched it, you would know that Zed's motivation was never to kill everyone. You are talking about something you clearly know very little about. You're free to hate this show all you want, but don't use this weak argument and expect to be taken seriously.

ToQger is probably one of the weaker Sentai series in recent years. The suits and mecha seemed uninspired at first, but they grew on me a bit. I honestly feel the Color Transfer gimmick was wasted here. They used it very well at the start of the series and as it progressed, they Transferred less and less. It was a great idea, but wasn't used to it's full effect. I feel that Mio was one of the weakest Yellow Rangers, in terms of character growth, personality, and relevance to the story. If an episode focused on Mio, I really did not care. (Marcos, I'm sure you still hate Youko, but I think Mio is a worse Yellow). Akira was a good character and should be proud to be the first Orange Ranger. (I do not count DekaSwan as she is a Special Hero, and SPD Orange Ranger was a dream, so that doesn't count.) It's nice when we get a brand new color in Sentai. However, he should have been able to Transfer with the others (Ticket says he can't). Throughout the series I was far more invested in the villains story. Their relationships were rather complex and brought a lot of tension to the opposing side. Having their own trains that could become robots was also a nice touch to the series. The Conductor and Ticket were my favorite characters and provided good comic relief. Wagon could've done without the lips. However, all three of them were needed to keep life on the trains lively.
!!!SPOILERS!!! The final episode was a little disappointing. Akira doesn't get to finish off Baron Nero who has been taunting him since he entered the show. There was no final robot fight, just the Rainbow Line trains smashing into the Castle Terminal, blowing it up. We at least get a final confrontation with Zett, but he gets away and returns to the Darkness. Seeing ToQ Ichigou Transfer between all the colors was cool, but he was able to become Orange (Ticket, you lied to us), and ToQ Ichigou Rainbow was cool to see while it was around. There was no real conclusion for the villains, the Emperor of Darkness got away, maybe those rumors of Zett being ToQ Nanagou in the V Cinema are true. The ToQger's reunion with their families was definitely emotional and well done. It is nice that the children get to keep their memories, I mean, they have to for future movies, V Cinema, and specials. All-in-all, ToQger had some good elements and some standout characters, but at the end of the day, it really is the weakest Sentai in recent years, IN MY OPINION. I know there are those who hate Go-Busters with a passion, but I feel that ToQger was a much weaker series. Not quite at Goseiger levels of bad, but I won't be holding on to ToQger in my external hard drive. Last edited by Dr Kain; 02-21-2015 at 01:26 AM.. |

First of all, if your friend wanted to contribute to the discussion, he could just come her and post himself. Also that doesn't help your point. And even if it did:
Ending his post by saying "Toqger is not Goseiger levels of bad" is something I can't take seriously anyway, because Goseiger isn't bad. It's just a popular opinion to say so and most arguments revolve around people not liking certain things due to personal opinion and sell that as facts everyone has to accept. Which is btw. the same for this opinion on Toqger. Most of the complaints result from simply not understanding plotpoints correctly or not paying proper attention to them and thus dilisking them. (On a side note: Akira isn't the first Orange Ranger. Battle Cossack is STILL the first one to wear that color. ) |

The series had great concept, but poor exectution. Hence it's easy for one to hate/not like/... ToQGer. It might be a weak series, but as Go-Buster it has their own fan too. A majority of fandom are like "Oh we hate this show, so you must hate it too". Nope, my emotion is mine to decide, not their influence. I like this show, although some episodes are buggy as hell but this is the most entertaining Sentai I've ever watched.

I'm going to miss this show, I've thoroughly enjoyed it and the ending did make me feel a little sad. May not have been the greatest show ever written but it was fun, the villains were well written and looking in hindsight the Toqgers themselves were nicely done as well.
I'm a little gutted we didn't get another battle between Hyper Toq1 and Zet cos the ones they did have were great but short making me want more. Bring on Ninninger, can't wait. |
