That's right. The Zyuranger to Timeranger mecha had some really imaginative designs. Very few stuck to the traditional Voltron-oh design, but were simple enough for the kids back then to enjoy too. Unless kids have regressed in intellectual aptitude, I think a unique idea that keeps it simple would make for a fine robot.

Although Toei has a tendency to give up on unique ideas when they bomb, I think they could benefit from learning what went wrong with Go-busterOh. As said before, a mecha doesn't have to be too complicated, which I think was Go-busterOh's problem. It was just too ambitious in making the individual components complex that the combination suffered as a result.
They could try a different transformation again, but it doesn't have to be crazy complex. DaiZyujin/Original Megazord is a decent design that is easy, durable, yet unique in its own way.

No, but it could be one of those. Where the Black, notice it's always the Black, becomes the legs. Like Gosei, Ninja, Wild Force.
