How could the cost of a show be any more expensive today than it was 10 years ago?
I'm sorry, but I call shenanigans on that. Series need to either be 13 or 26 episodes and air the entire series in one go without a break and without leaving it off for another season. God, I hate that Japan has taken the worst aspects of American TV into their culture.

I agree. In our real world, costs on everything has risen, and the amount of money people make has not caught up with that inflated cost. Apply that concept to animation, and you can see why 50 episode series or longer are a rarity these days.

Oh my god kain what the shit.
I'm an animator and I tell you what, computers don't make it any easier to make good animations, the fact you even said that is just straight up insulting. Also costs rise all the time, have you never heard of inflation? Everywhere things are getting more expensive, do you not realise this, I mean look at all the toys we buy, they're certainly not getting cheaper.

A computer can't do that because the person is not physically touching anything with his/her own hand. I didn't mean it as an insult to animators, hell my friend does animation with his Silver Quill MLP reviews on Youtube. I just mean that the animation doesn't feel the same when it is done by computer because it is soulless. Just look at the differences between Sailor Moon and Crystal. |

Computers can't bring a touch of realism that a human hand can. I don't mean how the animation looks, I mean the soul of it. An animator who drew a cartoon by hand put their own experience into it through the touch of their fingers. They held the pencil/inks/whatever and drew it with their own senses. Their soul was poured into it giving the work a life of its own because they were able to physically touch the work they did.

Just look at the differences between Sailor Moon and Crystal. and no offense to Silver Quill, but the stuff he does barely counts as animation considering the images just slide around and aren't really all that animated. "computers can't bring a touch of realism a human can" you know a human is making it regardless, right? there's no "make the anime" button that the computer does for them.

26 episodes these days for a show is not a bad since you can still a great story with that many episodes. Our economy is still recovering from financial crisis of 2007–08, so we can't pull off the money for more episodes then we used too. Besides I hate anime when they go on forever because I feel like that they lose quality fast. Like with Naruto, Pokemon, Bleach, Inuyasha and even DBZ.

Oh my god do you even understand how art works? Computers are merely a tool for the artist to use just like pencils and paints, doesn't change the soul and hard work put into it.
Like go and watch the new Peanuts movie trailer, there is so much character and love put into the aesthetic and animation and movement that you simply can't say it has no soul.

Precisely. Something done with CG can have the same amount of effort and soul as something done in 2D. I do enjoy things practical as well (I can't stand using CG blood in movies), but if the story is good then that's all it matters to me.

like, you cannot convince me there isn't emotion in modern stuff like Summer Wars, Wolf Children, or hell, look at the stuff they're doing with new anime like Ore Monogatari! that anime has done a fantastic job at eliciting emotional responses out of people!
no soul in it my ass!
