Oh gosh I'm excited for this episode. I have a feeling it won't advance the plot whatsoever but it'll be fun.

Every Christmas we get a mecha all-stars battle, and this year I was not disappointed.
This was the best moment of the entire series: ![]()

This episode was fun, but the show is still treading water. They're giving us plot developments one minuscule drop at a time.
I'm disappointed with the "Kinji-is-acting-shady" reveal. He was looking for Kyuuemon? That's it? The way they were telegraphing it, I thought he'd be up to something way cooler. Alas... The ending with Mangetsu and Kyuuemon was cool, though. My speculation that Kyuuemon is pulling a Snape remains in play. *Watches the next episode preview* Oh, great. Another episode about the heroes being forced to play a game. How innovative, Ninninger. |

Anyways, I didn't like this episode as much as I had hoped. There wasn't enough Santa stuff, Kinji's reveal was lame (and everybody just brushed it off?) and I don't understand why they started off using Shurikenjin when it's clearly weaker than Gekiatsu Dai Oh...still, the mecha fight was pretty cool and the ending with Mangetsu and Kyuuemon piqued my interest.

The plot of this episode felt so...disjointed.
The Christmas theme was more backdrop than plot point like other Sentai Christmas episodes. The way the previous episode ended made me think Kasumi's little character arc would continue little by little when in actuality it was poorly wrapped up. Kinji's reveal about hunting Kyuuemon was extremely weak and had seemingly no reason to even be brought up as if it were some big secret (Even the way he revealed it seemed so tacked on...) and the final giant fight was basically the series' way of getting mileage out of the original mechs one last time. And then to top it off, next week is another episode about playing another f**king game. We're at the home stretch, reused stories like this have GOT to stop! We need more episodes like Mangetsu's arrival.

Personally, I'm glad it wasn't a recycled "feels" Christmas episode. I don't require that level of fan filler. The Kinji/Kyuuemon fight was actually really well played out, considering how many times Kinji has been duped by that fox. And since less than 10 episodes ago Kyuuemon was kicking everyone's butt with that special attack, and now Kinji has gone up a few power levels makes it a more even playing field.
Mangetsu is growing on me with each episode. He's smart, powerful, and wicked devious. Considering Ninniger has been all about Kasumi of late, he is in effect the Moriarty to her Holmes. Because let's face it, she and Takaharu are truly the top ninjas. He's got the brawn and she has the brains. It's been far too easy for her. (and if you're doing a count, Yakkun has his lawnmower fetish, Kinji just wants burgers and photos, Fuuka is the comic relief, and Nagi is kind of happy to sit in the back) Kyuuemon's half reveal is significant enough to make one wonder if he's Daddy with sealed powers (which would explain the desire for the End Shiruken). We'll see. I am also disappointed by next weeks theme. I don't know why the entire series has had this constant vibe of not wanting to take itself too seriously. That's what happens when you read too much Naruto and just pull the filler plots.
