It wasn't a retelling, it was a satirical review with the main intent being on comedy, rather than anything informative.

I can understand not liking it, don't get me wrong. A lot of Linkara's reviews bore me to death. Here, it just feels like you didn't understand what you were getting into, is all.
If you want to see him in a more informative light, check out his History of Power Rangers series, where he gives an overview and (Sometimes long winded) review of every season/series of Power Rangers (Up to Super Megaforce). He tones down the humor some to talk about key plot points and noteworthy episodes.

When it comes to this style of reviewing, I think the Nostalgia Critic put it best.

Maybe I'm just not gelling with his supposed brand of comedy; it feels like an attempt to replicate the feel of MST3K, but, to me, lacks all of that show's charm (and laughs.)

I'm definitely not above changing my opinion on someone, so I'll give them a go. At the very least, having not watched PR since MMPR as a child, I stand to gain something from the experience!

Roger Ebert was not that great of a critic. The man down right hated horror movies and degraded them just because of their content. He was also a pompous jerk who gave anything he didn't agree with a bad score just because and some of his reviews didn't even sound like he actually watched the movie.

Not all reviewers are made to be funny. People like to review things seriously. That's why I like people like Emer Prevost aka Hellsing920 with his review "Reaction and Review".

Any reviewer could be seen as a pompous jerk if their reviews on movies you like were negative. It doesn't make them somehow wrong just because you disagree with their thoughts.

I think Edward Scissorhands was a piece of shit. I'm not calling people who praise it poor critics or that they have bad taste, for example.
