You're not wrong. Gwen is from Earth-65. A world where she gets bitten and Peter becomes Lizard who is then killed. Pretty much role reversal of Peter and Gwen. In June of 2015, they released 20 variants featuring Gwen. I own them all because Gwen puns. CapGwen America, X-Gwen, Gwenom, Gwoot, etc. I found them amusing. Gwenpool was a fun design. It's probably the most popular variant of the bunch along with Gwenom.

Gwenpool was then featured in backup stories at the end of Howard the Duck #1-3. And then as part of a Holiday Special. With the success of that, came Unbelievable Gwenpool. The character is actually Gwen Poole and not Gwen Stacey. She is from the real world and gets thrown into the Marvel Universe and thinks nothing bad can happen to her because she's in a comic book. The series will explore how she learns that this isn't true.
