I remember Bluefin on their Facebook page comment on a fan question on their wall asking for Yu-Gi-Oh figures like S.H MonsterArts Blue Eyes White Dragon. They mention that they try too, but license issues got in the way. Figma probably got the rights to Yu-Gi-Oh before Tamashii could.

And honestly, when it comes to animated designs, I prefer Figma over Figuarts. Their design style lends itself better. The joints on Figuarts are always too... obvious. Compare Sailor Moon or the Precures to anything put out by Figma.

Been looking into Figmas recently since I like both Atem & Lucina, so their figures appeal to me. But I've never had any before so I gotta ask; how do these fair up to other action figure lines? What are the pros & cons of Figmas in general? How frequently do they get released? How do the sizes feel?

Considering Revoltech is ALSO doing Yu-Gi-Oh figures, I'm pretty sure GSC having the rights "first" is irrelevant. There is literally nothing stopping multiple companies working on a license except the owners of said license saying no.

Pros: - Lends themselves very well to animated designs - You tend to get quite a bit of kit depending on the character, and their alternate face parts are a lot more expressive than Figuarts. - semi-soft but flexible plastic means that they move very smoothly. - They "hide" their joints better than most other styles. Cons: - More "realistic" designs are just not their area of expertise (such as The Avengers or especially Bruce Lee) - GSC tends to go overboard with their in-house shop preorder bonuses, sometimes relgating signature or "necessary" accessories or expressions to bonuses you can only get through them. - They tend to underproduce figures that are extremely popular. - Aftermarket gets out of hand FAST and never really settles down. Example: Fate/Unlimited Blade Works Archer. - Release dates are frequently treated as a suggestion rather than a rule. Fairly frequently. As for a particular series... variable. I'm not sure how to answer this one, but they fit in with other 1/12 lines like SHFs or Marvel legends pretty well. I have Saber and Sayaka in a display with a few Riders and they fit in just fine.

Finally! The colored prototype will begin some kind of journey to a few toy-shows starting with Anime Expo and ending with Wonder Festival Summer. I guess pre-orders go up after Wonder Festival.
