Mind you the show is intentionally keeping you in the dark about that for now. Though you're actually just about at the point where all the big mysteries start coming together, if I remember right.

Well, he implies it in episode one but, if RODAN didn't pick that up, there's a good chance others haven't. I'mma Spoiler Tag Dat.

Both? The movie isn't really essential viewing but it's fun, has some interesting plot beats (if you like Hikawa you'll probably like the film), and generally has a nicely "big budget" feel to it.

You might enjoy Kuuga after Agito, since Agito is technically a sequel to it (but only in the most tangential way possible). The movie is pretty fun though, so I would probably finish that first.

Long version (Minor spoilers): The First TV special is "Three Great Riders" and it's a segment on a show called Telepi. The mascot character calls in the Riders to defeat some Lords. It's mostly clips and then an original battle at the end featuring new finishers and weapons (some never used again). It's like 10-15 minutes. Watch if you want to see the battle. Then there the annoying TV special, "A New Transformation." This aired between episodes 35 and 36. This is about Agito learning how to use Burning form, the G3 team creating the G3 Mild, And Hojo (the lovable asshole) learning who Agito is. That last one directly contradicts a major plot point of the show. For what it is, it's good. It's just kind of a mess, especially when G3 Mild appears in the show later without explanation when this special can't happen. The movie, Project G4, is soon after Agito gets Shining form in either the late 30's or early 40's and after A New Transformation (due to foreshadowing). It's mainly about the G3 team. It's good. If nothing else, give this one a watch. It's also 30th anniversary movie. PS Also watch Kuuga at some point. I don't blame you if you're waiting on better subs though. The movie also has one of the biggest guest cameos of the pre-Decade Heisei era.

Alright. I finished.
The Good -- Most of the characters were fleshed out The plot was very interesting Not very much filler Lots of really funny moments Really good at getting you hyped (the original theme song is so damn good) Houjou was a perfect little slimeball The Kino arc was incredibly well done The entire episode that takes place on the Akatsuki - The Bad ---- The last arc felt really sloppy and rushed. They introduced 2 new Female characters basically out of nowhere and didn't do very much to make me care. Hikawa and Ozawa don't end up together They sort of forgot about Mana in the last parts of the show. Or at least ran out of things to do with her. The Climax wasn't very good They didn't establish the Antagonist until like halfway through the show and even then I still don't really "Get" him. |
